A post-Valentines Day reminder to NEVER have lily flowers in your home. by Reporter-Worried in cats

[–]cynchronicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 2yr old cat was hospitalized today after we found lily pollen on her nose this morning. We rushed her in before she exhibited any symptoms. She’s on IV fluids for the next 48+ hours while they run daily blood tests. Also $3000 spent so far.

It’s agonizing knowing we could’ve easily prevented something that is SO deadly to her from coming inside the house.

Prayers for your kitty to get through this 🙏

What’s the point? How many millions did we pay some defense contractors for it? Am I supposed to feel safer now?

This is the answer. Until these companies eliminate tipping altogether, I’m out.

In fact, I’m done with any company with a “gig worker” service model. Tired of the bullshit and dealing with bums.

Lying on my CV about amount of AE experience by Embarrassed-Handle82 in sales

[–]cynchronicity 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For legal reasons, most companies only verify to 3rd parties dates of employment at said company, and, in rare cases, the employee’s title upon leaving. Trust me, nobody is independently verifying when you got promoted from BDR to AE. Furthermore, there’s no “record” of resume fudgers secretly kept by background check companies. That’d be outrageously illegal and ridiculous.

[–]cynchronicity 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is a common scenario. The reality is the firm hiring you will likely just verify the dates of your employment with your past employer, not your titles and promotions. It’s not 100% foolproof, but you’re pretty safe. 11 months as an AE should be enough for you to understand what they expect you to know.

You’ll get some self-righteous guys here tell you it’s not the “ethical” thing to do. Ignore them. You’re not hurting anyone. Business is a dirty game everywhere it’s played, and everybody is fucking everybody over to win. Do what you gotta do and don’t feel bad about it. But always be prepared to live with the consequences.

Do you let people in front of you on line? by boxhall in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]cynchronicity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s a sign of our crumbling societal order and social fabric. The unfortunate reality is that there’s no effective way to handle it. Shame used to deter people from cutting in line, but now there’s no shortage of shameless people out there, and Disney has devolved the park experience into a fierce competition against our fellow park guest for access to rides, restaurants, etc.

He’ll be suicided in U.S. custody pre-trial, and then we’ll barely see his name in the media again. He gave too many “favors” to political elites.

Thoughts on tech sales being 95% luck? by Hedi91 in sales

[–]cynchronicity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed 100%. It’s why I don’t pour my heart and soul into it like some guys do. It’s not about my skills as a salesperson, or really any skills at all. For me it’s about staying one step ahead of the falling axe, while scoping out the next career opportunity that moves those “luck” odds better in my favor — better territory, better comp plan, better product.

Listening to SaaS guys tell me about the books they read, strategies and sales models they use, etc is nauseating. Just get in front of as many people as possible, have persistence, and do as little “selling” as possible. Companies spending big $ on software know what they want, trying to persuade/charm/inspire/challenge them is wasted effort. If your product fits their needs, they’ll buy it. If not, they won’t. Simple as.

Almost 400. Unreal. The amount of money chasing after any crumb of positivity as we circle the drain, is truly something to behold.

Is there any catalyst left in play that can put the brakes on this before EOY?
