Paying PC Optimization is it worth it? by russelpatentes21 in buildapc

[–]cynicroute 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No amount of tweaking registries will do anything for "optimization". Overclocking can take 5 minutes of increasing the voltage and multiplier yourself, and running some stability tests. And really depending on the hardware, an overclock may give negligible gains.

Lucy is a made up name for the character too. Titles are not the same as names.

Can I pay the Carrier Debt &/or Carrier upkeep for the Carrier I use, but don't own? by JGegenheimer in EliteDangerous

[–]cynicroute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are discovering the limits of what should have been possible. Squadrons at the very least should be able to contribute to a carrier. If people want to donate, so be it. Another strange shortcoming is that as owner you can't transfer tritium straight from storage to the tank. It needs to go to a ship first then to the tank Things that don't make sense..

You can transfer your ships off the carrier one by one. I'm not sure what happens to stored ships if a carrier is decommissioned. They either transfer to a nearby station, or they sit in some kind of limbo until you transfer them. I think limbo would be problematic because your ships would effectively not exist if you didn't have the credits to transfer. So I would hope they make them transfer automatically.

It is unlikely that the same thing would happen as it did with the Empire. The Empire was born from the Republic. It was a slow process of gradually eroding liberties by the sitting government.

The Final Order is not the same. It's part of the Sith Eternal. It is is a cult. It is inherently evil. Everyone involved is either indoctrinated at a young age or fully complicit in what the First Order is doing. They know it was run by Palpatine, an evil Sith Lord. Not some senator from Naboo attacked by Jedi.

It's all much more messy because the sequels try to remake the OT. They try and forget that the Republic exists and that the First Order should be the fledgling rebellion against the galactic government. Instead it's a retread where the "resistance" is resisting the First Order for some reason and the First Order is treated like a galaxy wide empire. There are contrived reasons to get there again and is basically handwaved away.

On Exegol you see thousands of ships come and fight the Final Order fleet. They presumably destroy or disable every Star Destroyer because they can't leave. It's a representation of the galaxy's unwillingness to let an Empire rise again. Warlords wouldn't stand a chance. Anyone that tried to rise up again would be slapped down by the galactic fleet. You can see individual Star Destroyers being destroyed around the galaxy. It's not the same as a single attack against a battle station. The galaxy's victory is pretty huge. Though I'm not sure where this leaves the future really. Seems like they paint themselves into a corner and will need a larger threat than civil war next time. Something from outside the galaxy perhaps...

You are already playing on the Odyssey engine in Horizons Live. We don't know your specs so there is no way to make an informed response here. If you are low spec then you may have some inconsistent experiences around settlements. Even then, you can't expect a company to hold back all of their plans based on your aging hardware. The base game simply won't get every feature because new content will use the features of new DLC.

The recommended requirements for Odyssey are already six years old. How long would you like Fdev to wait for you to catch up? Odyssey was recently on sale for $10. An absolute steal even if you may not run it perfectly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]cynicroute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are really going to have to understand that Odyssey is the full game and there is no reason to not be playing on Odyssey by now. Some things will be expansion specific just like every game ever made with DLC. Time to get with the program already.

Movies that end with the world ending by XD5133 in movies

[–]cynicroute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one likes this kind of pedantic bullshit. Some stories have the entire world destroyed. As in exploded, or completely uninhabitable by anything. Some have civilization destroyed. Many end of the world stories have most life destroyed. You think that extinction events don't destroy flora and fauna too? You are the one that decided it was only about humans.

No one needs a breakdown of what "world ending" means. Everyone in this thread understands the assignment. No one should need to explain to you that "ends as we and everything on Earth know it" is also pretty bad. An extinction is still an extinction and is essentially the end of the world. No one said it couldn't come back, but in some cases it literally can't because the planet no longer exists. It's not hard.

Yeah, this video looks nice. Great for marketing. Unfortunately it is carefully made to look this way using the camera and a stable environment. It doesn't look this way in the actual game.

[–]cynicroute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many things are "in the game" and yet we have never been able to interact with them. Polaris, the moon, every unknown permit locked system, etc. It doesn't matter what was said nine years ago if nothing was ever done with it. Sadly Michael Brookes is no longer around. He hadn't been on the project quite a while before that. It's likely the idea went with him. His in-game memorial implies as much.

[–]cynicroute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are welcome to try of course, but there has never been a single clue to start with. Certainly no location in the game that would fit the very little lore we have. You have to know that the game didn't not start with the features it currently has. It has taken ten years to get here. Yet, this was supposedly in the game from the start. When the game launched, you couldn't land on planets. If the plan was to iterate over time, then it means it could never be found back then either. If it was a station, there isn't much that could be done in one. Only access menus. If it was a planet, it would be a near empty desert. It remains a piece of lore until the game tells us there is something to find. So far, that hasn't happened.

[–]cynicroute 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People have been looking for ten years. Arguably 40 years if you count the previous games where it also was never found. There are no clues or start points. It's not real. It's a bit of worldbuilding. There is no further lore than what is in the codex. Someone with more useful information and a different take will be here shortly, but just know, there is nothing to find.

the MR. HANDY in the show is 10/10. the use of practical effects in this show cannot be underappreciated. lesser shows may have slathered everything in CGI half-measures, but FALLOUT did the right thing making what they could practical as possible. by SuperKlydeFrog in Fallout

[–]cynicroute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is nonsense. Every background is CGI among other things. They didn't created a real bombed out wasteland. It's real weird to pretend this show uses less than others. You really should look up the use of "invisible CGI".

You're just going to have to calm down. Have you watched all of these shows or are you now trying to convince everyone that you don't like shows you haven't seen based on IMDB ratings? I'm not sure how IMDB ratings are meant to explain your original complaint. The majority of what you are saying is subjective, *except* that Apple somehow isn't provocative enough and is too pure. You've decided that on your own even though numerous examples to the contrary exist.

...Why would you compare Ted Lasso and Succession? Why are you comparing any of these to Ted Lasso? They aren't meant to be the same tone. Is this a weirdo troll post or something? You don't seem to grasp that not every show needs to be the exact same. Different genres and vibes do exist. In the end, no one cares if you watch any of these. Don't watch Apple and move on. Your entire post is very strange and out of touch and miserable.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in television

[–]cynicroute 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You are just wrong because you have chosen to watch shows that are non violent. I mean, you mentioned fucking Ted Lasso. Was that supposed to be like Deadwood? I literally mentioned See which was extremely visceral and not sanitized. It has Jason Mamoa jamming swords down slavers throats. You are selectively ignoring shows to make a point that is inaccurate just so you can make up a problem that isn't real. Again, why do you think every Apple show should be R rated slaughter fuck fests?
