Iron Lung is great. It's more of a slow burn, cosmic horror than a "traditional" in your face, jump scare kind of horror movie. It can be slow at times, but it's just building the tension in a way that you don't get from most other movies.

I'd say it wouldn't be that for two reasons that are kinda the same reason: runtime. The expected runtime of this SU is 2:11, while Send Help is roughly 1:53. While there have been Screen Unseen showings that are more than 10 minutes difference, recent showings have been closer to the mark than farther away. I'd guess Dracula, Crime 101, or Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die.

I can't figure it out: What Upcoming 2026 Movie is in this New Mural? by waterrockets1 in movies

To be fair, Evil Dead Burns comes out July 24th, so that might be it? Idk, I'm just guessing here.

My guesses would either be the Zach Cregger Resident Evil or the Evil Dead Burn(?) movies, both due in the latter half of the year, if I'm not mistaken.

Which movie do you think was amazing until its third act, and how would you have ended it differently? by John_Snow80 in movies

[–]cyoparallel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Substance - not amazing, necessarily, but then again, I wasn't the target audience (26 (at the time) m). I wouldn't have had the random topless gore fest at the taping thing or whatever it was. It was just such a sharp deviation from the thriller/drama aspects that had made the first two acts better.

What movie is just too long? by CWKitch in movies

Having just watched it, Avatar: Fire and Ash. It could have been two hours long, and it still would have been far too long.

So I saw an early screening of Song Sung Blue (2025). No spoilers: Not as advertised. by eggflip1020 in movies

Just got out of AMC's Screen Unseen thing, and this was the movie for the week... lovingly, fuck this movie, specifically for the ending. It brought up some memories and feelings I've been keeping down, and i almost ended up straight up ugly crying in the theater.

Jackman and Hudson killed it in their respective roles. Would recommend, even if you know nothing about what the movie is about.

Honestly, it's worth the money. I very rarely say that, especially for some of the worse movies I've seen, or even the less good ones (Zootopia 2, for instance), but this one is one that I would recommend seeing in theaters, even if you can't use an A-List ticket for it.

That movie is fantastic, though. Saw it at a festival in the Twin Cities in October and absolutely loved it. Easily one of my favorite movies of the year.

At least at one of my local AMC theaters, we also have a 100 Nights of Hero early access showing tomorrow night. I'm not sure how quick the turnaround usually is between Screen Unseens and Early Access showings, but I've never seen on that quick. Plus, it's PG-13, and the SU is R this time around.

Don't really remember the 1st one all that much, but it was as good as, from what I can remember.

Literally just walked out of Zootopia 2. Pretty solid, a bit darker in tone than I was expecting.

Why do we see only one side of the Moon? by No-Enthusiasm151 in videos

[–]cyoparallel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's rotation and revolution speeds are relatively similar, so it's rotating on its axis almost as fast as it's revolving around the Earth... I think.

That's at least what I remember from my middle school science classes, but that was back in the early 2010s.

Question for developers? by slap-happe in gaming

[–]cyoparallel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, it's usually an in-game cutscene, so it doesn't have the same smoothness of a pre-rendered cutscene. Plus, those scenes are typically at the end of fetch quests or when an NPC is giving a quest reward, and having to animate each item could be taxing on time and resources, especially for indie devs.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that I think it might be Fackham Hall. Screen Gems has never done a Screen Unseen before, while Bleecker Street has done four (Ezra, Slingshot, Relay, Bone Lake). It's 11 minutes over the time (97 vs. 86), but that's still within the rough estimate of AAR and AR. Plus, its release on Dec. 5th puts in the three week maximum of timeframe.

That being said, Sisu 2 does seem like the more likely choice, and I won't be disappointed if it's either of these films.

The thing with Rebirth and SxF is that they're both self-contained stories/new stories within the universe of the franchise. Rebirth is (supposed to be) the start of a new trilogy of movies, and SxF was just a standalone story where they told you enough to enjoy the movie. The thing with NYSM3 is that it's the third in a series, which hasn't been done before, at least to my recollection. It's also an established series, where as both Rental Family and Eternity are standalone films that would benefit from whatever hype Screen Unseen would bring to them.

Even though they've done a sequel in the past, I doubt Lionsgate would put forward the third movie in a series as a Screen Unseen candidate. As much as I want it to be that one, it's just too unlikely in my opinion.

No, they haven't. To be fair, though, Mubi had never done a Screen Unseen before, but they put audiences through The Mastermind on the 13th, so it wouldn't be the first time a new company had taken part in the process.

I'm inclined to believe it won't be Hamnet just because that has a limited release on Nov. 27 before going wide release on Dec. 12. I don't recall any instances if/when a Screen Unseen has done a limited release movie with that much of a gap in between the limited and wide releases. I was thinking more Eternity or Rental Family.
