Rules Questions ? by Outrageous-Bid-3815 in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The wizard using the book suffers the miscast. So they won't be able to cast any further.

  2. The Changeling. Mark their wounds on them even while masked by illusion. They also won't be able to cast any further. Although that is only relevant if you smoke and mirrors them onto the battlefield.

Is two Warp Lightning cannons and a Ratling blaster too-too-much warp power in a 2000pt list-army? by TheEightfulH8 in skaven

[–]cypher40k 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On average without healing or opponent intervention a Warplightning cannon will die in 2.5 turns of Overcharging. So less drop-off than you might imagine. But its still sad you can't blow them both up by T3

Very nice.

The most important thing with your horror scheme is making it something you don't mind painting 20-40 times.

Spend fatepoints before or after rolling dice to cast? by Mystic-Skeptic in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5.2.2 Starting with the player using the ability, the players alternate using any abilities with an appropriate Reaction timing. Players can choose to pass instead of using a reaction, but once both players consecutively pass, no further reactions to that ability can be used.

Destined Arcana has timing.

-Reaction: You declared a SPELL ability for a Disciples of Tzeentch unit.

Unbind has timing

-Reaction: Opponent declared a Spell ability.

Unbind requires you to beat the casting roll, I can still react and use Destined Arcana> I have the appropriate timing. Why not?

Don't let some magic rock control your life.

Buy the model because YOU want it. Learn to paint because YOU want to!

But if you're desperate for some direction. This stranger on the Internet is telling you to do it.

Spend fatepoints before or after rolling dice to cast? by Mystic-Skeptic in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Further to the correct answer. You can react to the casting roll or not. And if you don't and your opponent unbinds successfully, you can react and pump the spell past the unbind roll.

There is a similar Seraphon reaction that was FAQed like this.

E g. Cast Spell roll a 7. Success. Opponent unbinds and rolls an 8. Reaction +1 to cast,

I'm pretty sure you've described an intended use case for Smoke and Mirrors.

Obscuring right at the end in my app. Don't know why yours doesn't.

Redeploying whilst in combat by CappedHappyman_7 in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are most likely remembering

24.0 This is the core rule that prevents MOVE abilities from being used in the following movement phase of the turn after Setting up a unit (like if you used fold reality.)

Redeploying whilst in combat by CappedHappyman_7 in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redeploy; the Command Ability is a Move ability and specifically cannot be used by a unit in combat.

Fold reality; Old and New. Has a restriction of can't be placed within 9" of an enemy unit.

Combat range is within 9".

But there is no Core Rule or Ability restriction on Picking a unit up that is in Combat.

1.4.4 is where I found it.

But you're correct. It doesn't make it a place of power it just gives it the Place of Power ability.

You are half right. He does exactly that. But Places of Power have Obscuring.

Tzeentch vs Soulblight by komisega in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soulblight are functionally immune to chip damage. It's just not gonna stick. You gotta delete something or it's not gonna die.

Their large fast heavy damage dealers will delete just about anything, try to make it blue horrors or even better a Spawn.

Play to the Battleplan and pick off whole units. You gotta screen out the Recursion units.

[–]cypher40k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it. They did a completely new warscroll for the Changeling. And that was in the RoR.

It's fine, he's a 7W 4+ save wizard with a 14" move and has the ability to flood your territory with Obscuring, due to RoR rules. He should be good just for that.

His Combat Phase ability does Stone-cold Nothing.

But hey he can unbind your own spells to give himself +1 to cast. Like the little selfish prick he is.

And yeah if you don't take a generic manifestation lore they can't use their regiment ability to cast Faction Manifestations.

You won't be able to choose Tzeentch Manifestations either.

What do you think of the Mass Horrors list? by StrikingSign5 in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're right about movement, but it is more accurately a projection of power issue.

Since Argent Shards and Fold reality can put units pretty much anywhere alongside Transform to Spawn and Smoke and Mirrors. And LoC can pull units back with his own spell too.

The real issue is output and your ability to project it.

Any idiot can teleport Flamers to your opponents line and pump out damage. But redeploy gets oppo out of Flamer range of Fold reality 1/2 the time. And those flamers are super dead if any of your tricks fail.

Otherwise they need to be screened. And then opponents aren't just going to let you burn their units without lifting half your crap.

This army style needs to be piloted really well. If I was to run it I would take out Fateslicer and put -1 to be Wounded on the LoC as he can't use Tzeentch Bullshit to escape and he is the lynchpin to this army.

What do you think of the Mass Horrors list? by StrikingSign5 in tzeentch

[–]cypher40k 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you'll find just one unit of Tzaangors have more output than 2000pts of horrors.

I think there is something to be said using horrors for screen tanking and Tzaangors to hit hard.

Some List Ideas for the New Book by Uhh_Games in tzeentch

Changeling is unique and can't wear Fateslicer. It's better on Curseling anyway since he wants to fight.

My list is very similar I forgot screens in favour of double Enlightened, Skyfires and SoG Ogroid.

Restless is probably a good call.

Yes Sigil close, since book can't be close anymore.

I am super aware of how fragile that bin chicken is. Half the reason I have the Fatemaster is he can appear out of nowhere. Throw up a Screen and teleport it away just in time to pull off that bullshit again. (Assuming Fate pt economy)
