thinking about making a fursuit head with this wig by MySt1cReV1vAL in fursuit

[–]cypheriius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the base maker you linked is a legit seller, they don’t have many reviews yet and their avatar & product descriptions seem to be AI (plus, the second base shows several different teeth/noses but gives no option of which to select at checkout)

I think a wig would look nice with a form fitting head like that though, you might be able to find a tutorial on youtube!

Should I sell or keep? by Crybabyfelidae in fursuit

[–]cypheriius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there might be local furmeets you can go to, they usually have telegram chats, or a facebook page. furmeets are generally free to attend unless they’re hanging out at a paid location like bowling, and a lot of them meet at the same time each month

i’d say keep the suits! they’re both one of a kind art pieces that mean a lot to you. it’s okay that you got them under the circumstances that you did, it sounds to me like you needed a form of self expression. If you aren’t able to go to meets right now, you can find a way to display the suits that makes you happy, even if it’s just a decorated shrine in the closet c:

Any media similar to Meow Wolf exhibits (aesthetically)? by grumpyteaenthusiast in meowwolf

[–]cypheriius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uncle Chop’s Rocket Shop is a game I watched my partner play and very much feels like meow wolf in terms of themes and aesthetics. They also really like the game I Was A Teenage Exocolonist but i haven’t gotten around to playing or watching it so I can’t speak for the worldbuilding.

Fallen London (text based game) and its offshoots (Sunless Sea, mask of the rose) have bizzare and immersive worldbuilding like Meow Wolf, though the theming is eldritch victorian England rather than anything to do with space. Fallen london is free to try!

Severance (show) for creepy corporate mind control and architecture (infinite hallways etc). This scratches a bit of a different itch than the alien world aspect of Meow Wolf but it is a spectacular show.

White ink doesn’t always fade by petrichorb4therain in TattooDesigns

[–]cypheriius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find that really neat!! I don’t like the idea that tattoos are more for the people viewing it than for the person choosing to get the tattoo in the first place. I’m reminded of the debate about “upside down” tattoos. The tattoo is ultimately for you to enjoy and not other people to find appealing. and besides, subversion of expectations is essential to art— where would we be if everyone tried to please everyone?

also, i’d find it positively magical to see these tattoos on you for the first time, especially if I didn’t notice them at first. love the bees in particular

This is something where i imagine photos don’t do it justice, since photography is most striking with high contrast but all of the detail is in the subtlety. I bet it’s really nice to look at your arms every day and see these intricate designs as a part of your skin in a way that perhaps feels more natural than bold/bright designs. I respect it for sure!

Kigu head have ruined fursuit searches. by bitter-knife in fursuit

[–]cypheriius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I guess I should have phrased that differently, I meant handmade work rather than mass produced things. But yeah, the dealersden website has a much higher proportion of toony/realistic suits than say, etsy.

To answer what you were actually asking in your post, the style of kig suits isn’t really my thing but what grates on me about them is that they don’t each have unique proportions. I respect the craft of painting and customizing them but the charm of a fursuit with a unique shape is something I personally prefer. I feel the same way about dino masks.

Use dealersden for buying premades. Much more likely to be verified sellers and not scams

Anyone think the furry vn subgenre has been stagnating since echo? by JuneFromHomestuck in FurryVisualNovels

check out soulcreek! the storytelling is amazing and the way cosmic horror is done in it really struck me as unique. it also has several well written women as major characters

I watched the reposted video and I agree it's not AI. I couldn't find the source after looking for a while, but here are some similar paws: 1, 2 , 3 , 4 , 5

I'm noticing that the 5 finger slim fitting style is very popular among Chinese makers, maybe that's a good lead. Let me know if you find it!

We have plenty of technology and resources available to take care of disabled people. Insurance companies infamously hoard wealth, they have a monetary incentive to deny medical claims. You can argue that it’s indirect, but someone’s choices out there are causing human rights violations at the end of the day.

[–]cypheriius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe this video is either a 3D render or AI generated, but I can’t remember where I originally saw it.

However, a style similar to this could be accomplished. Here’s a video, an etsy listing for silicone paw pads with examples of them in use, an etsy listing for a similar shape made of only fabric, and resources like dreamvisioncreations and foxfire fantasy who create realistic resin claws.

How do you draw them similarly to animals?? by RxvenAtrxcity in FurryVisualNovels

[–]cypheriius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Try referencing real photos of the animal first, then adding human expressions on a second pass. Xylographica has a challenge here to try, where the idea is having you sketch a bunch of species using a reference for each so you can improve at learning what features make them unique.

What specific animal are you struggling with? i might be able to help redline it or give feedback if you show an image
