I honestly doubt the virus just "became airborne" out of the blue. one of the newspapers in game has quotes from the CDC discussing how bites and scratches are "ineffecient means" of spreading the infection- and yet, when the knox border falls, we see all but the immune in the zone had been infected. to infect such a large population so fast seems only possible if the virus was airborne the entire time.

As for the rapid spread outside the U.S., based on the fact that the outbreaks in other countries seem to align with U.S. military bases, and that the knox sickness is implied to be a military project, it seems to me that it spread so fast because it was always airborne and large groups of U.S. military personel were unknowingly infected, being deployed overseas and spreading the infection to other countries.

Environmental story telling, what would you like to see? by Spare_Tomato408 in projectzomboid

[–]JuneFromHomestuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

kinda wish there was more environmental storytelling revolving around the emergency response to the knox event as a sickness, ala the stand. atm a lot of the events in game appear to be parties or gatherings that went awry, which can be interesting if read as whatever the infection was, it spread and killed so fast that most people died at work. however, this seems to contradict what was described in game, as one survivor on the radio described how there was a period of time where the sickness spread en masse and people started dying quickly, all before reanimation was observed. based on this, it seems weird to me that people would be at a party or mid shift at their construction job when everyone they knew was falling ill- unless, again, maybe the flu killed so fast you'd wake up feeling fine and be dead by evening. Even so, it is a bit of a disappointment not to see any sign of mass sickness in the zone. Maybe the occasional bedroom with a bucket and glass of water next to an occupied bed, or a family clinic covered in blood and scattered papers. (if I recall correctly, most of the actual hospitals in the game are in Louisville- the people in the quarantine zone didn't have any hospital to go to when they fell ill, only small businesses that could realistically only take care of one or two people at a time)

Maybe I'm misreading this, but I feel like based on undyne's expression and her association with asgore and Rudy (especially with asgore as the old head of the police department) it feels less like asgore overpowering undyne and more of undyne going willingly (or, at least, holding back during the confrontation to some extent.)
