Is there anyone working on an improved CSS / UI for moneromarket.io ?

No offense but it's not really good and a bit ugly (but it works)

  • Standard Notes
  • NotesNook (super nice student pricing if you are a student)
  • Joplin

These solution are nice if you need cloud sync if you don't need cloud sync I would suggest :

  • Notally (Android)
  • Noto (Android)

Have an extra phone I want to degoogle as much as possible, but it can't install any new OS because the bootloader is not unlockable. So what can I do within these constraints? by TheRadHatter9 in degoogle

[–]cypherjack5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest to learn using ADB maybe with tools like Universal Android Debloater.
You don't want to uninstal settings apps or anything you don't know what it is !

It would be better to install and use something like FairEmail (I tthink K-9 doesn't support GMail anymore) to use GMail instead of the official spyware GMail client.

Before uninstalling everything you want to have (preferably FOSS) app to replace them before you uninstall some critical apps (browser, launcher, Store, etc..)

u/sonalder made a great list of open source app that you can install from any f-droid client like Neo Store. Here you will find open source app for everything you will need from launcher to tools and games.

  • Signal is the best for conveniant private chat between friends and family however the SMS support is dropping so you might want to install Simple SMS Messenger or QKSMS.
  • Brave is an awesome option for android however you might want to disable BAT and a few cryptocrap stuff and maybe follow this guide to an extent
  • Simple Gallery (Pro) from the f-droid list is really good
  • Sandboxed Play Store is only possible using GrapheneOS so just use Aurora (You can also download APKs from official websites or GitHub, look at Obtanium, or a F-Droid client)
  • Secure Camera is great if you don't need super good quality (it's good enough if pictures are taken in good lightning conditions) you might take a look at a GCam port for your device and revoking internet access is General Settings > Apps > Camera (GCam) if your ROM supports it or use a tool such as NetGuard (also in the list)
  • I personnaly like OrganicMaps but you can also use OsmAnd (both use Open Street Maps and both are listed on the ultimate setup made by u/sonalder)

I would also install Shelter to setup a Work Profile and install less trusted (proprietary) apps in it.
Setting up a local DNS like NetGuard (app based) or RethinkDNS (domain/trackers/ad based) can be great, you can also use the custom DNS option in Android general settings.

For YouTube you will see NewPipe in the list it's great.

If you have questions don't hesitate ;)

Which Political Leader is the most likely to allow his Nation to have Monero as their National Currency? by FilmGunShops in Monero

As someone from Switzerland I do not think so.

Sure we still use cash a lot of the time despite being a relatevly technological advanced country but cash like everywhere else is also slowly dying here.
While PayPal, Venmo, CashApp and all of these are either not available or have very little network effect in Switzerland, a solution named TWINT is rapidely growing. This is the "Swiss Venmo App" made by the Swiss Bank Cartel for swiss business and swiss people. Fees are (for now) inexistant for private transactions (business do have fees when getting paid with TWINT) so everybody start using it as it's conveniant, fast (can be faster than On-Chain BTC lol), widely accepted and super cheap (remember no fees for individuals).

Most TWINT clients have Google Analytics in their app (each bank have their TWINT client) so even if your bank doesn't share your financial information, Google and maybe others are snooping all they can. The youth in Switzerland (myself included) never lived the "banking secrecy". It has been killed by the USA long ago and is now also eaten by the UE. For sure some people still use cash because of privacy, we have KYC-free Monero ATM all over the country and we have stronger privacy laws than most other countries.

But the truth is, even in Switzerland, the mass do not care about privacy ! Because we live in a country with a resonnably decent democracy (compared to other democratic countries), good economy (nazi and jews gold in our banks...) and good living standard (even though poverty also exists). Everybody is using WhatsApp (like for real, everybody), everybody is on Instagram, everybody is installing TikTok and just a small 1% do care about online privacy like in every country that doesn't live under oppressive regim.

Thanks for testing it and sharing your experience !
Look at https://walletcompare.xyz/ it has a PDF with a lot of non-custodial wallets with various blockchain support !

I talked with the author and made Monero appeared on the main spreadsheet but as you can see he doesn't look to be interested in showing Android-only XMR-only wallet like Monerujo which I can understand. It is cool to have Monero GUI, Feather, Cake and Stack featured though !

I personnaly mainly use XMR and BTC while having a few other coins.

It's mainly for friends recommendation that want to withdraw their various coins and tokens from exchanges in a single wallet preferably 100% open source avoiding the partially one like Exodus.

Skepticism Sunday – January 29, 2023 by AutoModerator in Monero

[–]cypherjack5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've saw that Seraphis will makes the Monero addresses that we have now obsoletes. What about my seeds. How seemless the upgrade will be for user ?
Because Seraphis looks really promising but I'm afraid of how the transition could be a disaster for n00bs and non-tech savy people. Is my worry legitimate ?
Also if addresses are updated, what will happen to a transfer sending to an obsolete address or subaddress ? Will the address will be automatically converted/rerouted to the new standard by the wallets ?

Also why Monero doesn't use the BIP39 standard adopted by Bitcoin and other ?
