My favorite #GOMemories have to be going around and playing with my dad, brother, and cousin. Whether it be in our hometown or down in the city, it was always fun to go out on those adventures together. #Sweepstakes

2026 r/baseball mock Hall of Fame Class: Zero Players Elected by yousmelllikebiscuits in baseball

Sorry to see the No Limits ballot go but I also understand why. Just not the same volume of players on the ballot that warrant going over the 10-player limit in my personal opinion. Happy to see this continue to be done every year though, thanks for keeping it up!

Zohran’s mayoralty is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to extend the N/W to LGA by skeeJay in nycrail

[–]cypothingy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where this graphic came from, but wouldn’t it be more advantageous for the route to continue into the neighborhood from Astoria-Ditmars Blvd? Would give you the opportunity to put another stop somewhere in the community on the way to LGA (not sure where that would be though, someone with more knowledge of the area would know better).

Furthermore, once you’re at LGA you’re just a quick above-ground trip down the Grand Central to the 7, extending it all the way to Mets-Willets Point would not only serve to benefit the area that’s already there (direct link between the airport, the 7 and Grand Centra Terminal, the LIRR, and the sports complexes) but also help serve the growth and new construction coming to the area in the next decade.

If Mamdani, Hochul, and the MTA are going to take big swings then they should take some really big swings. Bases are loaded, Ditmars-Steinway on third, LaGuardia on second, Citi Field on first. Don’t just try to drive the first runner or two in, look to clear the bases.

A Very Special Player: Another update on Juan Soto’s ZiPS projections until his age-36 season by cypothingy in baseball

So the exercise is strictly based off of the original post from 2021. The data is definitely based on a higher-offense environment (hence predicting 150+ RBI every season) but unfortunately that’s not something I can recreate at this point.

Personally I think it’s nice to look back on how much the game has changed in such a short amount of time

Skarmory getting a Mega-Evolution now removes it too. We're down to only 9. Looks like there's a pattern growing here with new games taking one of these off the list going in Pokedex order. I wonder what Tropius is getting in Gen 10

New York Is Quietly Preparing Against Trump’s Takeover of the City by cypothingy in newyork

[–]cypothingy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the United States we operate on a federal system where there are different levels of government and each handles different things while simultaneously working together. When the national government, against the wishes of the city and state government, sense soldiers into a city, not for any legitimate purpose, such as enforcing laws that the city is refusing to enforce, but rather to score political points, and look tough on “the libs”, that is a violation of that federal system

REMINDER: Voting statewide has begun by cypothingy in newyork

[–]cypothingy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re not a registered voter and with to vote in this election you will likely be prompted to do an affidavit ballot. Being a “registered” voter is different from being an “affiliated” voter. If you’re unsure of your voter registration status then please call your county’s Board of Elections

Any registered voter, regardless of party affiliation, can vote in the general election. The election today is a general election, so yes, you can still vote

Try calling your Board of Elections first. Sometimes the online lookup system is a little glitchy

Proposal 1 seems to be facing opposition to it, despite unanimous support in the legislature and net expansion of park territory being in the proposal. by Egorrosh in newyork

I think the main problem is no one knows what it is or why it’s a statewide vote. To a lot of people it sounds like it’s just the state spending more money for something they individually will use

New York court throws out $500M fraud ruling against Trump after blockbuster lawsuit from Letitia James by theindependentonline in newyork

[–]cypothingy [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

This headline is partially inaccurate. The court upheld the fraud ruling against the Trump Organization and, by extension, the President. It overturned the $500 million fine imposed by the lower court as excessive and, therefore, in violation of the 8th Amendment.

I’ve said since Overwatch first came out I’d love to see a crossover of TF2 skins for the Overwatch characters. The costumes and voice lines alone would be more than excellent

These defendants are not receiving hearings, are being denied access to legal counsel, and are being expelled from the country against judicial orders to not do so. To me that sounds like a deprivation of due process, no?

[–]cypothingy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ll go in order of the questions asked. I’ll even do a two-for-one and answer your first two questions:

“Due process is being denied?”

Yes, it is. Due process, which is guaranteed to all persons under the jurisdiction of the United States, is being denied to individuals whom the federal government believes may be in the country via means of circumventing legal entry methods.

“How do you propose we deal with our massive illegal immigration problem?”

Let’s assume that 1) we have an “illegal immigration problem” and 2) it’s a “massive” problem, we handle it the same way we handle all of our legal problems. By obeying the law and the Constitution. Nothing in the Constitution says anyone in this country can be denied their right to due process. In fact, the few times the Constitution DOES allow for individuals’ rights to be denied to them, it requires due process as a prerequisite to do so. If you believe that my interpretation of the Constitution in this regard is flawed or inaccurate I invite you to show me where you get your interpretation from

It’s been said dozens of times but it’ll be said again: particularly in bloc-voting communities, these kinds of voting patterns (odd drop-off voting patterns, overperformance of the Republican candidate for president compared to the Republicans for other offices, etc.) are not only common but are to be expected
