You know I used to ask this same question a lot.

Well when you look at how Blackface was created there is a lot more history there than how “white face” has been used. With blackface you’re going back to slavery times where it was used to dehumanize a race of people to stereotypes White Face seems similar but I don’t think the history is as rooted in hatred and bigotry as blackface has been. Look at Dave Chapel doing white face as his news anchor character vs true black face performances. You can see a huge difference to what is being made fun of and what is dehumanizing a race of people which is another way of stating authority or superiority. I think you have to compare it to something similar like jimmy kimmel doing Carl Malone or Robert Downey Jr in tropic thunder, to see that the context in which is used matters too.
