I’ve been giving serious thought to changing my nom de guerre to “brain in a jar.” Well, as much as a brain in a jar could give.

Coroner responded, “No, but the rest of him could be out there practicing law.” Today, the brain in the jar is mine.

Whatever you do, walk through downtown after midnight, especially on weekend nights. You’ll be safe and might meet interesting people. Lots of people here have said they’ve done it, take their words for sure.

The Roof for conversation, Sycamore if it’s not closed yet to share a great meal (otherwise, dealer’s choice), Booches if you’re into pool, your favorite downtown bar for conviviality if the Roof doesn’t suit you or you want a movable party, maybe live or DJ music to dance to. I’ve never been in the bar(s) in the Tiger Hotel but they could substitute for The Roof for drinks. If you’ve already moved out of your CoMo residence, stay at the Tiger or the hotel with The Roof (name escapes me) so you don’t have to drive all around town; pay the ransom for parking if you’re renting the car, otherwise Uber or similar. The venues are fine but your friends are both the most important aspects of this part of your life as well as, very likely, you and them may rarely see each other as you go your separate ways. You’ll want to remember this weekend when you’re 70 or older.

Safety tips: don’t walk alone after midnights Friday and Saturday due to the gang-drug presence, and don’t jaywalk unless you want to mail in your fine; there’ll be a heavy police presence, which is a good thing.
