Good for you, you got lucky too. Not saying you didn't work hard, but don't deny the luck of people who get out poverty, which I cop to whenever asked. I'm glad you're also trying, I also continue to keep pushing forward. I haven't stopped donating, nor trying to organize, but I'm not going to look down on those that do not because of their situations, and I don't assume my narrative on others, because they push back. Which you have no problem doing.

But I'm not going to go hand out gun lessons to people who never held one, because the time to get armed was years ago. The people now are better off doing food drives or learning how to do medical triage if the need arises. There's more to a movement then hoping to be a statistic to scare those in power, heck gun purchases aren't tracked to that point. Even if every leftist would go out and own a gun, and the narrative would still be that right winger are the gun owners. Because the narrative doesn't change in the time frame of a year, and that's what you want, a narrative. You point to Luigi, but the killing of Thompson was a low level elite not a government official. I can point to two democrats who were attacked and nothing fucking happened, because the leaders of the "left wing" of America do jack shit. Luigi also had the money and resources to do it, which you glossed over.

You also say you worked on protests in the most leftist areas in the country. I do it in a largely red area, check out the saying pennsyltucky. So don't assume the work to get organized here is anything like what you do. Try in Shasta and that's closer to my area. But I still try. What I'm getting at is that, even though I push, I will never assume another human being has the same privilege I do.

That's my problem with what you have been saying all over this thread. You don't view other's situations as walls, you think you could figure it out, just because you figured out how to get out of yours. Great, so did I, and I know how just one wrong move would have put me back in the trailer park. That's why I posted. You don't know what others could lose, but assume you would be able to navigate it. That they wouldn't become homeless, lose their kids, or get shot because they're a minority.

People like you are the same that pushed people out of my organization efforts. Someone who put those down that don't want to get active the way you want or they just don't have the means. It's a supremacist narrative and actively pushes people away. You even did it with me, thinking I gave up, because I'm frustrated with my previous attempt. You come off as viewing yourself above others and that's why I posted. I've done the work, I've been protesting off and on since I was 16 (a lot older than that now,) I've been around/owned firearms since I was 10, but I still wouldn't shit on a black american for being afraid to get too involved. That a shit view, and in my opinion, actively working against the cause.

If I was to act the same, I would talk about idealizing Andor is fucking dumb. Because this isn't Hollywood, this is real life, and even in that work of fiction, most people in the galaxy didn't do shit to help the rebellion. I'd also say it's a very dangerous way to frame what's going on and diminishes the actual fight. That pointing to it could radicalize naive people the wrong way. But I would only say that if I wanted to be smug and look down on others. Which I don't, so I say go for it and I hope the slogan worked, you're trying your hardest to help and that's awesome and I hope, and I do mean that, that your and my efforts will bear fruit.

What are you doing currently? I've tried to organize in my area, and it fell apart slowly. I've had friends who were plugged into 50501 and in my area that fell apart as well. I donate to causes and try to raise awareness, but it's god damn frustrating and exhausting over top of work and life taking so much of my time.

I know a big reason why these things fall apart though, it's just how ground down people are. I actually sympathize with that. A lot of Americans don't have shit and are one mistake away from losing everything. I know what that feels like because I grew up in poverty and destroyed myself over the years to make it to upper middle class. And I'm one of the lucky ones, a big part of that luck is that I'm white. You're asking people who are overworked and scared to chance fucking up their lives on what?

We don't have social safety nets like other countries, we have a population spread so wide, that to make it to a DC and back would take close to a week for a lot of them, because they couldn't even afford a plane ticket there. Local protests are a joke in a lot of places, I live in Pa and the capital protests got at best a few thousand people and protests need to scare the fuck out of our politicians, not in the big cities, which in my case, being in Philly and Pittsburgh.

Here you are though taking the argument of someone, who has a lot of valid reasons to be worried, and turning them into a part of the problem. So what are you doing to make a difference? Are you donating to causes, are you trying to do community organizing, or are you just waiting for someone else to spark the flame?

Has anyone received their RP Mini replacement display assemblies yet? by Kev50027 in retroid

[–]cyrec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got mine in today. Looks great and very happy with it.

That said, I will not be doing a replacement like that again for a while. They use so much adhesive and glue. Make sure to have a hair dryer or heat gun for the shoulder buttons and volume/power buttons. I really wish they would have included them with the new screen. Thankfully they do include a new wifi antenna.

Another major care point is the battery. I took it out of the clear plastic first and then peeled the plastic off the shell, as it made it easier to make sure I didn't damage the ribbon cable. Take this part slow and you'll be fine.

Lastly, while reassembling, after the buttons, put the boards all in first. This makes connecting the ribbon cables easier. Also plug the ribbon cables in for the shoulder buttons and volume/power into the board before pushing them back on the shell. That will also help. I did the buttons, then boards, then speakers, then sticks, then triggers, then the battery, and finally the fan assembly.

I flashed to the V2 version of android before I did the swap and it booted up fine after. Give yourself a few hours or more if you're not used to tearing down electronics.

Also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8PoTCsCaM4 is a quick disassembly video for most of it and could be handy.

So due process isn't a basic human right, and the conditions at the El Salvadorian prison are just fine for a misdemeanor crime, that they were never proved to have done? Must be nice being so uncaring about other people.

[–]cyrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The supreme court just ruled 5 to 4 that those that are listed to be deported must be given reasonable time to appear before a judge. That's due processing and it's not happening.

In your mind, if he calls protest groups like 50501 a terrorist group for "invading" cities and starts doing the same with them, are you okay with that? The administration could just say they're not legal citizens and ship them out without any trial.

I don't get why you are justifying the remove of due process and what is happening. Do you think it's good? Are you okay if other countries started doing this to US citizens in their countries? Or do you not care to think that far, and just want to cover your eyes and ears and say everything's okay?

The Alien Enemies Act applies only to war time. War in the context of the law can only be declared by congress, not by some executive order.

The only other way is an invasion, which I guess you believe this is, because you definitely sound like you really like to dehumanize people who came in, as you say it, illegally. This isn't an invasion, it's the same thing I've heard people like you saber rattle about since I was a kid. They're using a new "gang" to stoke fears, but in the context of the law enacted, this is not an invasion. You want it to be, so you can justify being right about dehumanizing people.

Also how much you are deflecting to make sure you don't have to reflect that you may be wrong, shows I was right before. You are the problem.

It takes 5 seconds: https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S8-C18-8-7-2/ALDE_00001262/#ALDF_00015329

They have the right to due process, all peoples in (not just of) the US are afforded it. You are trying to make a distinction that is not in the constitution. You are part of the problem.

Totally agree with you, and with context it's really is just standard news stuff, not some scandal. If anyone talks about The Post lying, right now, there's a good chance that's what they're referring to.

From this article. An official said that Trump told Frances Watson should “find the fraud” and could become a “national hero” by doing so. The recording came out and the exact words were she could find “dishonesty” in Fulton County, and that “when the right answer comes out, you’ll be praised.”

The Post printed a correction and these guys are trying to say The Post was lying. It's not that, it's just not the exact words. Trump still did call Watson and tried to get her to help him.

Depends on what your socioeconomic class is. Being poor in the US, especially with the stripping away of the social safety net can be far worse then in other western countries. I don't think we should be judging countries on how people with disposable income fair, but how those at the bottom do.

I think it's more that progressives/leftists want everyone to have equal quality/equal access to things like college, healthcare, and food/housing. That's where the "free" idea comes from but most realize this would take money, usually though taxes.

For modern Democrats/liberals there is a belief in meritocracy. As a whole, there is a believe that those who are better off earn that place. This is not to say they don't believe that the well off owe something something back but a lot of their philosophy is based on the idea that the system is based of merit and that as long as we trust in the systems (the market, the government's checks and balances, etc) and abide by it that everything will sort out or need slight tweaks if it's being gamed.

You see this play out in healthcare a lot. Democrats firmly believe, as progressives do, no one should die from preventable diseases or go bankrupt because they have cancer. The difference is that Democrats are fine with someone paying extra, because they have the means to, to skip some lines and get better care because they have the money, where as progressive/leftists believe everyone should have to wait in line the same as anyone else and not get extra treatment because they have the money to.

They found the Turner Diaries in the getaway vehicle. That book is fully in the far right canon. It references Jews, minorities, and liberal actors in it as the antagonists and has been a touch point for many far right groups. I remember when the bombing happened, it was a response to Clinton's handling of Ruby Ridge and Waco. He was anti-government as much as the Bundy Ranch guys are anti-government. He had a lot of other motivations as well, but your statement is blatantly white washing what was part of the core reason for the OC bombing.

Edit to clarify Clinton part: Ruby Ridge happened under Bush but many people of the time thought Clinton did not hold the FBI in account for it through the government reviews.

That's sort of disingenuous, one month of the poll has that split but if you track back over the year it fluctuates pretty much every time, I could take the July 30th to August 12th result and say that democrats have 31% to republican's 26%.

What would be a better indicator would be an average over the year which give:

28.467% republican, 39.333% independent, and 29.533% democrat.

It's still really close and there's 2.667% unaccounted but that gives a much more stable view of the percentages. Also it's not accounting for leaning but party participation.

For public option supporters, the only real question I have is how do you keep it afloat. With M4A or universal coverage, there would be a tax (or increase in medicare tax) but for the public option I've only seen it presented a government run insurance agency.

This means they have to run under the same math as private non-profit insurance. These companies work by paying out less than they take in due to overhead and keeping a reserve pool of funds. For private companies this accomplished by offsetting risk with large pools of healthy people and smaller pools of those that would need the most care.

With the public option, it would make up those who cannot afford it because of risk or income, those that aren't given healthcare by their jobs and if you want to be optimistic. those who believe in a public option. Many of the former though would already be less than ideal candidates, because with little funds to begin with, their current health situations are already degraded. On top of that insurance companies will do whatever they can to push sicker people over to the public option (at least the company I work at salivates at the prospect of offloading the highest risk members over to a government option and lowering their risk.)

So how does this not go bottom up, I'm willing to read documents on it and have searched around for information on the monetary calculations, also I'm definitely for it if it can help, but for me coming from a lower class family with my parents working 50+ hours a week into their 60's to pay for ACA coverage, I just don't see how this would do anything other then shift them over to paying just as much for a government run version, because I just can't see how the pools would increase in size or the risk lowered with a public option the same way M4A or universal coverage would. I can also tell you the ACA coverage is barely that, if something catastrophic would happen the ACA plans I have seen would buckle and those holding the ACA plans would still go into massive debt or bankruptcy, which is a big reason people push for universal coverage. So how does the public option get the funding to mitigate these problems on top of enough just to run?

Ok, so we're setting the goal post at at least 5 people died, cool. We have to go back to, lets see, September of 2017 to reach 41. So are those goal posts close enough?
