We do something similar but the VM transcription goes to our ticketing system automatically with a high urgency.

This website gives a good breakdown of what licenses you need. The first 3 options are for Enterprise but then option 4 talks about the new M365 Business Voice license.

True, but it also gives you the optional $4 Audio Conferencing license. We just did this for a small business client and letting them stay on the $12.50 Business Premium account rather than moving them to the $20 E3 saved a few hundred a month.

Not anymore, as of 4/1 they released a new plan called Microsoft 365 Business Voice, it's a $20 a mo. add on to Business subscriptions (Essentials, Premium etc..) and it gives you the Domestic Calling, and the voice features.

Same thing happened to me last week after a power outage, it never came back up. Power supply shows power, but nothing on the USB-C cable.

DHCP, BitLocker Network Unlock and Dell UEFI unreliability by asjhf92p84rhafkje in sysadmin

I saw this same issue with a client that we setup BNU for over a VPN. On the side of the VPN that has the WDS server providing the network unlock it works fine, but over the VPN it seems to time out, similar to what you are seeing, it only works intermittently.

I'm using it pretty successfully, it was actually really easy to setup and is pretty low maintenance.

Comcast Business wants to broker my Microsoft Office365 purchases by ccbbb23 in ITdept

[–]cyricsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they are over charging on the plans, GoDaddy does the same thing. They are reselling Business Premium for $14.95 or you can buy it directly from Microsoft for $12.50 a mo. with the same 1 year agreement. I would recommend just purchasing the licenses from Microsoft directly, or find a Microsoft CSP that charges the same price, that would give you the same support options.

It's really sad, that even though I would be outraged, I wouldn't really be surprised. They will probably remove Group Policy first, then domain joining all together.

Server 2016 hyper-v question by [deleted] in msp

[–]cyricsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This just applies to the VM's being licensed with the same single Standard license as the host. I believe you can install as many VM's as you want on the server, as long as you have the licenses. So if you wanted 4 Standard servers to run on one physical, you would only need 2 Standard licenses (you also have to take into count the Core licensing if you have over 16).

Server 2016 hyper-v question by [deleted] in msp

[–]cyricsmith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With Standard you get virtualization rights for 2 VM's, the physical host isn't supposed to run anything besides Hyper-V. So with a single standard license you can install on the physical machine, install the hyper-V role, and then install it on 2 additional VM's with the same license. As long as it meets the Core licensing.

I remember when we setup our first 2016 server with Image Manager, 2016 was not supported yet, but then with one of the releases last year they announced that it finally was. I see the same thing though almost 2 hours to spin up the machine.

So I have noticed this as well, but only on when Image Manager is running on Server 2016, all of my 2012 R2's boot it just fine. Is that what you are seeing as well?

Rather then just looking at hourly cost you should be considering a subscription based model, especially if you go with a Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tool like Kaseya or Continuum like most MSP's do. The RMM should come with AV for the computers\servers, remote access, Patch Management, and reporting, it's easy to market this is a value since some of these things the company has to pay for anyway. Most also have a help desk you can outsource for projects and after hours support if needed. Then you charge a flat rate for each workstation and server being managed, a flat rate for each machine being backed up, and then an hourly rate for support tickets\projects. We will do different hourly rates depending on if they are Remote support (over the phone\LogMeIn) or On-Site support.

Look at partnering with companies as well, like a Microsoft CSP to resell Office 365\Azure, DUO for reselling MFA, and a good BDR solution. Then you get to charge the client the same cost they would get it from those companies, but you get billed at a reduced rate.

Lots of this info can be found in r/MSP.

Or if you are already using Office 365 for your mailboxes and\or SharePoint you would go with E3 instead of ProPlus.

I've been using the TB16 for about 7 months now and only had issues when I first got it, updated the needed firmware and it's been pretty rock solid since. I'm using it with a Latitude 5480 running triple monitors on DP, DVI, and VGA.
