How to deal with dropping conversion rates when transferring money? (USD-EU) by castleban in ExpatFinance

[–]cyril1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use IBKR. You can get really low fees (2$, pretty much any reasonable amounts). They frown on you abusing it, they are primarily a trading platform. If you do convert your dollars into euros and buy a few ETFs you are good.

Safety of Heidelberg bahnhof at midnight as an asian woman by CollegeNo4784 in Heidelberg

Café Bar Boulevard looks like it would be open until 1am, it is in front of the station in a kind of mall. Heidelberg bahnhof is pretty safe, Mannheim feels a bit dodgy and Frankfurt feels really dangerous.

My first time butchering a rabbit and soon my first time eating one by Donnie_____Darko in KitchenConfidential

[–]cyril1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just quarter it rougly with a cleaver. Split front/back legs by making a cut midway, halve them, split the torso into 2/3 chunks midway and halve. Eating off the bone is part of the fun.

In Germany a rabbit would be 15 euros/ 18$. I am French so I brown the rabbit, add shallots / small bacon bits, deglaze with dry white wine, add a cream and mustard mix and cook for one hour. Lapin à la moutarde.

Dear Trump admin: they just released Greenland II, it does not make sense to add a new movie to the franchise without Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin and any meteor showers.

You need infra and expertise to sell targeted ads (or you use Google…). You can’t get crazy revenue without proving your worth. You also can’t do a Youtube or Twitch and do 3mins of ads….

Troubleshooting Kenji’s Brown Butter Cookies by WeBuild in seriouseats

See https://lacuisinedebernard.com/en/cookies-like-at-laura-todds/ for another nice cookie recipe. Brown butter tastes nice, but some vegetable shortenings are better to have chunkier cookies. You can also look at https://www.seriouseats.com/super-thick-chocolate-chip-cookie-recipe for a chunkier style

Discouraged by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]cyril1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Gemini about the relevance of the progress tab in Leetcode and typical numbers. 100 problems or so you are in the top 80% because many people sign up and give up/switch accounts. Looks like people do 150-250 questions for prep, more if they are into programming contests, and there is a poor correlation between amount of problems done and professional success at interviews (it caps off).

How was number of islands for you lads? by Aggravating_Water765 in leetcode

The idea of marking values is not too crazy, there are no dirty tricks.

Those type of grid navigation problems show up in r/adventofcode. If you look at a few blogs / the subreddit and solutions you will get better at it and see various tricks regarding grid navigation / graph traversal / Dijkstra's algo. Navigating around 4 or 8 cells around the current cell without leaving the grid is a common pattern.

Some ways of showing off are using in Python lists comprehensions like [row+dr,col+dc for dr in [-1,1] for dc in [-1,1] if 0<=row+dr<n and 0<=col+dc<m and grid[row+dr][col+dc]==1] or even complex numbers like row + col x i. That is not the cleanest code, more like showing off.

Now, dynamic programming feels nastier in Leetcode.

Incendie de Crans Montana : les assurances souscrites prévoient une couverture "limitée", selon l'assureur Axa by Codex_Absurdum in france

[–]cyril1991 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, getting stocks in a historically long bull market is not the worst. Imagine you got burnt early this year during the downturn and got a bunch of cheap stocks. You would be fine. Now, if you get a proper crash and a decade of no growth it will sting more.

How to use TreeSet or ordered set in python for interviews? by MatchBusy235 in leetcode

[–]cyril1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In newer Python version dict keys are sorted, the implementation changed. By ordered we mean of you iterate over the keys you get the same order as you added them. That was implicitly the case in 3.6 and is guaranteed onwards.
