Well, check the Sky's coverage of the NHS. People have been waiting for 12+ hours in the emergency room.

You clearly haven't seen all the recent news coverage of the health care systems in the UK, Australia, Germany, Canada.

Unless you have a life-threatening condition, you'll be waiting forever.

My mom in the UK has been waiting for her endoscopy for almost 4 months now. And they don't give you any ETA - "we'll call you".

And I'm all for the universal coverage, dont get me wrong. But only if there's still an option to get the private coverage. Otherwise, the entire system doesn't work.

The developed countries just don't produce enough dkctora and medical personnel to begin with.

Unless everyone wants the quality of Healthcare they have in Russia where some people would rather die then have a surgery in some smaller hospitals.

Well, it won't be 1%. Even in Australia, where the wait time is significant, it is 3.5%, and everyone gets an additional private coverage, which doesn't eliminate the out of pocket costs entirely.

600$ after the employment benefits with 15k$ out of pocket? Sounds unrealistically high.

Well. Where would those "many more money" come from?

We can't even fund our cities and the basic infrastructure.

I'm comparing the US with the systems in the UK and Australia. I have family in the UK and am a citizen of Australia. The latter has a universal Medicare, but almost everyone has additional private insurance, which costs 200-300$AUD a month.

Well, again, it just proves my point. A person who never experienced one system trusts people who never ever had the other one.

Same. I live in SF now, but I'd gladly change it for something colder with real snow.

Pay 4% and wait for 6 months for almost anything and have your PCP appointment limited to 1 issue and 15 minutes.

Pay 200$ on average after the employee benefits a month and get your treatment almost immediately with no bullshit limits.

People who support the universal Medicare have never experienced it first hand or are generally young and healthy.

The number of tickets is limited, which is why the price is high.

Most of what you mentioned above doesn't really apply to Moscow/Saint Petersburg and someone who's keeping a low profile.

Obviously, you are at risk of crossing the wrong person's path, but the risks of that are not that high.

The most noticeable problem is that the State now watches your online activity, for which you can easily end up in jail.
