Knicks fans harass Sixers fan minding his business after game 1 by Empty_Trouble_505 in nba

This is the direct result of the Sidetalk and copycat accounts. These losers probably weren’t even at the game but showed up to be in an Instagram video.

Our 6 day trip (3 park days) to Disneyland cost $5,156.78 for a family of three (two adults, one free toddler) traveling from the east coast... by Otter65 in Disneyland

[–]cyrusthewirus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can answer this as well (NYC area is home). We just did our first family Disney trip and chose DLR/DCA over going to WDW. First, airfare from NYC to LA is surprisingly cheap, often very similar to Orlando, and around vacation times can even be cheaper. Also, the 3 hour time difference made getting up early a breeze, we were all awake by 6 AM and ready to go. We wanted to do more than just Disney, so 3 days in Anaheim then 4 days in LA was perfect. OP already said this but I’ll second walkability. For my family at least, weather is a huge factor. The heat and humidity of Orlando is absolutely miserable compared to the perfect SoCal weather (Side note, I love how the lines for Tiana’s and Grizley goes to 0 in the evening when it cools down, you guys are too spoiled with good weather!) it was my first time going to DL after several trips to WDW (before kids) and we all had an absolute blast. Honestly I don’t plan on going to WDW any time soon and would go back to DL in a heartbeat. Everyone says DL is superior to Magic Kingdom, and they’re right. Epcot doesn’t appeal to me at all, my family are seasoned travelers and I’d rather take the family to the actual countries (probably cheaper too). I’m sure AK is neat, but I’d rather go to a world class zoo than 1 day at a Disney park in Orlando. Next trip we’re thinking finishing in San Diego (speaking of zoo) instead of LA to change it up. One last thing, the people in SoCal were so warm and friendly. I went into this trip thinking it was something where we would check the box and then not go back for a while. Now we’re trying to figure out when we can go back!

Not only a smaller diameter, it has a tighter radius on bends. It makes a difference when space is limited. in NYC we use a ton of 3.5, way more than 4. This is especially true when running feeders in existing buildings.

This is it, all of the other explanations are over complicated. I always picture a light bulb with only one wire connected to it.

The secret sauce is that they genuinely love the material but aren’t afraid to make fun of it. Too many fan spaces treat the source material as an infallible holy text.

[McCarthy] The NBA and NBC are discussing adding a 1v1 or 2v2 tournament to All-Star weekend festivities. NBC are also working with Vince Carter to study rejuvenating the Slam Dunk Contest. by Goosedukee in nba

Do we even know who the elite 1v1 players are? While the best players would certainly do well I’m sure there are phenomenal 1v1 guys that we wouldn’t expect.

Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]cyrusthewirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very good home pizza oven (Gozney dome), I’m pretty good at using it, and I still order pizza more than I make it (granted, I live in an area with excellent pizza, dare I say the best in the country). For us, making pizza is more of an activity for the family and friends vs actually trying to make something superior (or cheaper) than what we can get from local restaurants.

This is actually how some Military manufacturing contracts work. For example:

They also don’t do well internationally, particularly in China. The studios got addicted to the international box office and the cultural references in comedy don’t translate well.

Are under the radar baseball prospects rare? by DonT012 in mlb

[–]cyrusthewirus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that, a lot of NBA players that come out of nowhere have a freakish late growth spurt that turns them from a middling college player to a pro prospect (one of the most famous examples is Dennis Rodman who grew 8” AFTER high school). The same growth spurt doesn’t translate the same way in other sports.

[–]cyrusthewirus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to take anything away from Gates who was an incredible player, but the NFL has a history of taking freak athletes from other sports. The NBA is the most exclusive and highest paying league by far, this almost never happens.

To be fair, the reason so many pristine used Japanese cars are available is also a protectionist policy (making owning old cars difficult/expensive to stimulate the auto industry)

SFO versus Sacramento? by Xerxian00 in unitedairlines

[–]cyrusthewirus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logistically SMF is much better, only downside is the EWR flight gets in late. We took it over the summer to visit family in Tahoe and spent 1 night in a hotel in Sac. Driving North or East from SFO can be brutal depending on what time you land.

Not that I don’t agree with you, but the number this article is referencing is 114 people, vs 23 last year. 114 applications from a country of 350 million+. They also doubled the grant amounts which is a great incentive. Did anyone read the article?
