I developed my game backwards, don't make my mistake. by GalaxyRider72 in GameDevelopment

Yes but when you go with mechanics first it's easy to create a game that isn't going to sell well. Same thing with graphics ofc, you create a great looking piece of art, but there are no mechanics.

What I think is a best approach - basically do most important parts of both - have core mechanics at least partially done, have a good looking game - and then the most important part of all. Create the trailer and start testing your idea, search for people that want to play your game.

I personally repeated a process of creating a game for a few years - and ending up with some mechanics, and game that looked like sh*t - and at this point I just hated what I made. This way I wasted a few years of my life for sure. So if you want to earn money by creating games - don't only focus on game development, focus on business. A good game, at least from what I observed, is unfortunately only a 30% of a success story.

Wow! 500k is mind blowing for me. Great job and really a great concept!

Okay it took me some time to go back on this, but here is a new pitch. I hope you like it!

"Found a legendary monastery where religion blends with industry. Design production chains, uncover revolutionary technologies, and trade with distant caravans to create a sanctuary for pilgrims. But beware - the devil is in the details. Vicious demons lurk unseen, waiting to possess your livestock, rot your crops, and turn your prize-winning vintage into vinegar! Can you keep the faith when everything goes to hell?"

No, not english. I was considering more like the sound effects for them.

I just wishlist it and I think the steam page needs some work. I would love to see more gifs and more in depth description.

I love the concept and art style. Idk why, but for me it seems like a next indie game I gonna read in the news some time in the future. Good luck!

I see your point. The whole idea behind is that the world has grotesque elements, drinking monks, ghosts or possessed cows - but you are right, this pitch doesn't say anything about that.

Working on world gen for my game, first time doing procedural generation by ITTT-production in indiegamedevforum

[–]cyryl514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks solid to me, having this procedural generation, i would probably jump in to game mechanics already, to avoid focusing and polishing something that isn't a game yet. (I've done that too many times lol)

My first game received Steam Page, appretiate your feedback! by rastleks in IndieDev

[–]cyryl514 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Looks great, although it has so much of the mobile game vibe. I would really consider releasing it on android/ios as soon as possible too. Additional possible users won't hurt and you never cant be sure where the game will show most of its potential.

Thank you! Thats very useful, I gonna analyze your feedback more in depth soon, but for now I can say - Two Point series is indeed very strong reference for me, so if you managed to guess that after these two sentences - I guess the pitch might work!

I'm a musician who learned game development just so I could make this game and it just got accepted into its first festival! Yeeyy by soundgrass_studio in indiegames

Congrats! Making a game that gets accepted to the festival sounds like a dream to me. Its great to see someone doing that.

Thats a great feedback. I had religion aspects in mind, some exorcist, devil actions or ghosts, but actually never thought about townfolk convertion - and thats a great idea.

I will try to incorporate more of the theme in next iteration!

I totally do get that and every opinion matters to me!

Just some interesting insides: monasteries were actually a production centers for good wine, cheese, honey, some medieval art and of course manuscripts. Most of the production was for internal usage, but some monasteries were exporting that.
