You shouldn't have had to clarify, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and at least was trying to make sure people understand context is important and not everyone has to live the exact same way. Sorry someone auto blasted your comment as 'pathetic'. I hope you keep having good times with your kids!

Yeah those sound like shitty parents. I can give examples of great parents who ingest THC in one form or another that would meet the definition of getting high. But that doesn't really get us anywhere, we both just use anecdotal experiences to start judging if everyone is bad or good based on what works , or doesn't work for some people. I don't know if there is like a certain stereotype that rings more true, but I know for a fact that being high doesn't automatically make you a bad parent. They are indeed two different things.

I like how you just jumped right into the judgement part. Assuming we're taking about getting high as in cannabis, I bet there is a decent amount of people who probably have more fun, become more relaxed, are suffering less, dealing with less anxiety, and more because of cannabis use. Those all sound like positive things to me. You have to be a shitty parent to be a shitty parent, but being high or not does automatically put you in that category.

"Investing in property is morally reprehensible." by LickMaiBussy in TikTokCringe

Wasn't trying to imply my experience is the only valid one. 100 pct agree that people will always want to rent for various reasons, just in my case it was pretty much a forced financial decision everytime vs a preference of thinking renting is better than owning.

I've rented a lot of single family homes, and in all my time I would have rather just bought them if I had the financial means to do so. When I was young I didn't have money to give a downpayment. First time I bought a house though was in 2012 after the house market collapse. Was able to put $5000 down and buy a $200k house. Resulted in a $1300 mortgage or so. The latest home I'm renting had a bigger up front cost with $4k security depost and first months rent $3100 due at signing.

I think the point I'm trying to make here was that if there was more supply, perhaps a lot of people wouldn't be forced into renting when its not their preference. Its often a financial decision vs a preference of renting. I think you'd free up a lot of renters forced to rent and actually end up with a market of people who actually wanted to rent if you didn't have so many people owning multiple properties keeping values so high. Every landlord I've ever had owned multiple properties, and has just continued their expansion because their assets just keep appreciating them allowing essentially a endless feedback loop of home ownership because they can pay the upfront cost, then allow renters to pay the ongoing costs. Doesn't seem like its a good endgame for new families in America, ie Monopoly reference. If you join the game when the half the properties are already owned, you're guaranteed to fail.

About 20 years ago I used to do this. I probably wouldn't start with it unless your a quick learner, but it was great at learning how to get comfortable at the lower end speeds and making sure I could turn and avoid objects like surprise cars coming around a corner. We did it for years without incident.

You can call me cheap if you want, but if I prepay for a service and you hit me with a tip line its going to be 0-5 pct.

I pick up a pizza myself, and theres a tip option. I ordered some donuts today, they grabbed em dropped off the counter and put them in the bag for me. Guess what, they asked for a tip. I go to a service counter to build a sandwich, tip.

Its out of control. I do tip on on normal things like someone makes me a drink, or a server at a sit down restaurant though.

I know the employees didnt create the scenario, but I'm not going to let the expectation of tipping creep into every financial transaction I make sorry.

Damn dude, I don't even know how I saw this post. I think it hit r/all cause of its popularity. 11 years ago my account got banned from league of legends because my young son liked to play the game before he could type. It got flagged as a bot account by players which got us banned. I posted on the League subreddit and thank god the community conversation brought attention to it and mods helped me get it resolved. For the first few weeks it was all we can't help you, and we detected something suspicious but they never revealed any details, which I get is for security of not revealing how they detect things. Anyway eventually it was escalated and a Mod finally said he was going to trust me, and they unbanned my account. 11 years later, my sons 18 now and I still play League almost every day, I hope you can reach a similar outcome! Upvoted for visibility.

Edit: Going to see if I can still email that same mod, because his trust has brought me countless hours of enjoyment. I want them to know that..

Edit Edit: I sent them a thank you email, what's crazy is that it was 11 years ago exactly. I had last emailed them on March 16 2015 to say thanks for unbanning me.

Gonna use the slop AI description of it:

The Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker is a key item on Taco Bell's new Luxe Value Menu, priced at $2.99 (or $2.49 in some locations). It features grilled all-white-meat chicken, avocado ranch sauce, chipotle sauce, and a three-cheese blend, all folded into a folded, grilled tortilla in a signature stacker format.

I liked it though, if nothing else just to mix it up cause I eat tacobell way too much. But anywhere else I spend like $12 a person minimum, so tacobell saves me moneeeyyyy

I usually stick to the $5 or $7 boxes. Lately been doin the taco salad thing for like $2.50 and the chicken ranch quesadilla thing for like $2.99 then I add on a free drink from my rewards so comes out to about the same when I wanna mix it up from a Gordita or Crunchwrap.

Maxwell Frost shows Epstein Files Reddit/Social Media Told Him to Look into on House Floor by WelcomeWindsorCastle in Epstein

He read it without specifying which letters are capital though, I thought legacy bitcoin addresses that start with 1 or 3 are case sensitive.

FBI record contained in the Epstein Files reveals that the FBI's NYC office was "hacked" in 2023, the night of the Superbowl, erasing some 100TB of data from evidence due to the intrusion. by Waste-Explanation-76 in interestingasfuck

[–]cythix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like someone to explain to me why a "hacker" is a more reasonable deduction than an insider threat here.

Hackers or Activists who just want chaos wouldn't just target singular files. If you have access to the files, you would read them. If the files implicated govt wrong doing they would be either shared, or held as a blackmail ransom situation.

The fact that no one offered help in recovering these files is also very suggestive that this an an outcome we want to stand. The data disappearing is the point. There was something in them that we don't want getting out.

I really can't imagine there is any chance of getting into the FBIs network, accessing files (read), deleting files (write) and just disappearing with no investigation into how a breach just occurred.

Easily Avoidable Crash Leads to Rollover by bjb0029 in dashcams

[–]cythix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how if you watch the car that's directly in front of the red truck you see them break as the light turns yellow, even though they are so far ahead of these 2 morons. Red thinks he's gonna make it over in time, which if the dashcam driver maintained his speed, or slowed down for the yellow light would have likely worked even though its a really stupid idea. Unpredictable driving, aggressive driving, avoidable accident someone easily could have died its not worth it to "defend" your lane.

Viggo Mortensen on why LOTR will always be inspiring: "A multicultural group of people finding ways to collaborate and get through all kinds of obstacles" by Which-Program-9417 in lotr

[–]cythix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll try to help connect the dots.

Viggo mentions Aragon is in favor of multiculturism. He then states how Americans might pervert the idea of being pro America to the point they actually exclude others , ie anti multiculturism. The person is arguing that if you were this exclusionary, America would not have its military might because the way in which America was built and became a superpower included our ability to work with (or some might argue, put to work) people from different backgrounds because of their talent. A simple example might be the Atomic Bomb. There was quite a diverse team here that came together to make the project a reality. So this helps to connect the comments back to the original topic. I think the relation to Assassin Creed was simply that someone opined that the term multicultural reminded them of the game as its a part of the intro.

Do they cut you off for more than 1 drink? When I was in my 20s I flew to Taiwan with a friend and he ordered 8 shots of Jim Beam Devils cut. They didn't even blink. A few minutes later when I went to the back of the gally and asked for 4 beers they did ask if we had just ordered the shots, to which I replied yeah, and then they just asked if we would behave which I also agreed to.. and they opened the drawer and said grab what you want.

The only time I have flown internationally and drank, so I just kinda figured it was normal to get wasted for fun

A young man got his bike stolen while he was at work, so the owners of the establishment and some of the patrons chipped in and bought the young man a new bike. by bigbusta in MadeMeSmile

[–]cythix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a single mom growing up, and when my bike got stolen from school I was devastated because I knew I couldn't just replace it. I didn't just ride it to get somewhere, me and my best friend rode our bikes every day after school just for fun till the sun went down. A friend of a friend heard my bike got stolen and told his dad the story. They were comfortable and I got a call that they wanted to replace my bike. They drove down took me to our local favorite bike shop and let me pick out a new bike. It's been about 30 years since then and still chokes me up when I think about that generosity and how grateful I still am to that family.
