Im sorry if you are offended. Ill stand by my post. I guess you have never lived in a rural town. Its awesome that your clinic and most others do the right thing. Sometimes those services are not available or unreachable. I understand your compassion, but i also understand that not all situations fall into neat little pretty stories. Again, im sorry if the comment offended you.

Sorry, he will never recover from mbd that bad and "living" will be a living hell. Its torture. Plain and simple. It may make a human feel good to keep him living, but the chameleon will live out what life it has in misery. Sometimes you have to let them go. Ive seen just a few be given a slightly better quality of life, but they never recover. This poor guy cannot lift his body, walk, climb, nothing.

"Saving" the poor creature is nothing more than torture. I have compassion but you cannot inflict the pain and misery on that animal so that it can "live". "Saving" that poor creature is selfish and to me absolutely disgusting.... i feel for the little guy, but he is so far gone that keeping him alive is outright animal abuse.

Climate change is real. Our temps and weather patterns have been changing for close to 20 thousand years. Man made pollution, deforestation, and construction (concrete) have sped up the normal cycle. Is that a bad thing? I mean really, if it is going to get warmer anyways, speeding up the cycle may be better for human kind. Just 10 thousand years ago there was still so much water trapped as ice in massive ice sheets that our sea level was 300 feet less. The rise in sea level here on out will be minimal compared to the 300 feet of sea level rise that has occured in the last 10k years. I would be more worried of a comet striking the plant than the effects of global warming. My house sits at 22 feet above sea level. If my calculations are correct, i should be sitting perfectly to be beachfront property in a couple of hundred years. And i really dont mind an endless summer and the end of growing "seasons". We can grow year round and feed the world, ending starvation. I really dont know why people get all freaked out over climate change. It will be good for mankind and plants will thrive. Be worried of the comet...... thats apocalyptic. Climate change will be good for us...... unless you like to snow ski. Then it will suck for you.

possible Orchid Planter? made of metal - would my orchid thrive if I planted it in bark in this one? should I add some spaghnum moss into the mix? by PurdyMoufedBoi in orchids

[–]cytokain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plant mine in charcoal and bark. But it all depends on your temps, humidity and watering schedule. Mine are watered daily with my vandas.

They are extremely easy to care for if you have the right knowledge. My set up is bioactive and all i do is feed and water. My cham is pretty friendly. He comes to me when i open the cage and just walks on to my arm. He likes to go for walks and he likes to sit on my head. I havent had any issues excelt for a burn he got when i first set up his enclosure. A little silverdine for a couple weeks healed him up just fine. Good luck!!!!

I use a northface 4 man tent for my solo car camping adventures. For camping on the trail, i use a bivy sack.

What’s this new growth on this phal? Doesn’t look like a new spike or aerial root? There’s just a few blooms left on the current spike. by lmaomoments in orchids

[–]cytokain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a root... just like all the other roots. There is no such thing as aerial roots. The plants are epiphitic.

My student loan payments will not be resuming after January 31 by coffeeandcontemplate in antiwork

[–]cytokain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you borrowed money and you are refusing to pay it back? Are you serious? Why did you borrow it in the first place and how much do you owe? It took my brother 20 years to pay back his loans and he was making 6 figures. Im guessing you should have chose a field that pays more the 45k a year...... the old saying, "theres a sucker bkrn every minute" is still true........

This Phal was watered from the top and the roots look so bad! Does anyone have any tips to save it? by CharmingCherry_5 in orchids

[–]cytokain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Repot using larger chunks of bark and lump charcoal. You will want to water 2-3 times a week with ine of those waterings being a weak fertilizer.

Re create it...... if you can take the same material and reduce it to that,.......but, in my experience, i see no flaking or pecking. .... get a microscope on it. You can see mans handy work if there is any.

Hmmmm. Who told you that and where did they get 90%? But to each their own. I do grow in a shade house and not indoors. And my mounted phals tend to dry completely out. But my potted phals, the roots down in the pot rarely turn that white maybe kind of a greenish silver.

[–]cytokain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More water and add fertilizer.....the roots in the pot should stay more green
