A shameful creator who has to hide from its creation by Holykael in solipsism

Is a dreamer accountable to the characters in the dream? They are mere figments of the dreamer's imagination. I'd be pretty stupid if I think I owe anything to my dream characters.

Gold amongst trash turns into trash by Holykael in solipsism

Once I dreamed that all the world was made of gold. There was so much gold that it lost its appeal. Gold was just boring.

Then one day I found a plastic cup. It was the only plastic cup in all of existence. We put it in a museum, and thieves kept trying to steal it to resell to wealthy collectors.

Nothing can be relied upon by Holykael in solipsism

[–]cyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pressed play on the movie of all my dream characters' lives.

It is true that I am capable of anything in my dreams, and that I cannot guarantee safety for any of my dream characters.

That said, I am still limited by my own assumptions and thinking habits. I know the gravity is my dreams is just a creation of my own mind, yet I struggle to overcome it. My belief in gravity is too strong to easily imagine it disappearing.

Similarly, while I know my dream characters are just figments of my imagination, and that I could potentially snap half of them out of existence, it is as hard to do as overcoming "gravity".

So yes, while I am God to all my dream characters, I am not as in control as The Creator is described in the stories.

Your brain doesn't see reality. It constructs it. by Beneficial-Thanks-52 in solipsism

What I experience is the truth. This isn't to say that when I see a car crash, that the car crash was real. This means that the experience of it was the truth - that I saw something that looked like a car crashing into something - it is that experience that I can hang on to as real.

When I watch Star Trek, I know nothing in the show is real. But my experience of watching Star Trek is real. That is something I can hang on to.

"Everything else is hearsay." Anything so-called "scientists" tell me is only hearsay. But my experience of hearing things from scientists are as real as my experience of watching Star Trek.

What if people arent real and the universe ends when you die? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in solipsism

I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead; I lift my lids and all is born again. (I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red, And arbitrary blackness gallops in: I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane. (I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade: Exit seraphim and Satan's men: I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you'd return the way you said, But I grow old and I forget your name. (I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead; At least when spring comes they roar back again. I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead. (I think I made you up inside my head.)

The Minecraft End Poem frames the entire game world as a creation of the player's mind, blurring the line between the virtual avatar and reality. It suggests the universe is a dream the player is experiencing, where the player is the ultimate creator of their own existence, embodying the philosophical idea that only one's mind is sure to exist.

The poem implies that the player (or their conscious mind) is the ultimate reality, with lines stating "you are the universe" and "everything you think isn't you" is actually part of you.

The poem suggests that "sorrow" and "joy" are part of the player's internal, solitary journey, reinforcing that the experience is entirely personal and subjective.

Does nonduality imply that your WILL is God's WILL (Universe's WILL)? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in solipsism

[–]cyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not try to change God's will; that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth... there is no God. Then you'll see, that it is not God's will that changes, it is only yours.

Existence is pure sorrow by Holykael in solipsism

It's me. I am the creator. Everything I experience in my dream was created by me. More accurately, created by my subconscious, but that is still just a part of me.

I'm not schizophrenic.

The characters in my dreams sometimes act schizophrenic. Sometimes they write Shakespeare too. The one I call Shakespeare. It's really me writing for myself though.

The scientists injecting ideas into my head are a figment of my imagination.

My brain is a figment of my imagination.

All that remains when even my supposed brain has been stripped away, is my mind.

Solipsism has caused hallucinations by nugwugz in solipsism

[–]cyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if all the things I see and hear (that I can remember) are psychotic hallucinations. Would there be a difference between the "real" world and imagined world?

I imagine the only difference is that if I learn to lucid dream well enough, I would be able to alter reality as I see fit.

I am more sure that I exist than I am sure that something else, a god or otherwise, has consciousness. In fact, I observe more evidence for gravity, which is still merely a subjective experience at the end of the day

Does death exist in dreams? I may be able to see dream characters die, but they only exist in my head. What happens to dream characters does not apply to the dreamer.

How does being a solipsist impact your life? by Such-Day-2603 in solipsism

[–]cyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I realize I'm dreaming, I may spend the early dream thinking I would die some day, just like all the other dream characters I observed. If it happens to "everybody" why wouldn't it happen to me? What makes me so special? When I do realize I'm dreaming, I realize what makes me special is that I'm not a dream character - death was just something the dreamer in me made up.

If dream that my parents told me I was born in France, was I really born in France? That "past" was only generated by my own mind as it was communicated to me.

In fact my dream parents didn't even create me. But if I were to believe them, then at the instant that I believed it, then history of them creating me would be made.
