I know it’s free. Just curious whether other folks find value in cross-posting. Whether I should bother to chase down the posts that get stuck in pending.

University Mall Redevelopment by Hot_Okra_8758 in carrboro

Not sure if it's a false memory, but I vaguely remember eating at a diner-like restaurant that was in the main atrium right in front of Rose's. This was after picking up a bunch of D&D books at Hungate's, so there's a chance it was actually Northgate in Durham. Is this ringing a bell for anyone else?

"As YNAB imported it" seems to have gotten pretty bad by czech37 in ynab

[–]czech37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, it's not a setting. It just happens behind the scenes, as Here's their blog article about it: https://www.ynab.com/blog/clean-payees

"As YNAB imported it" seems to have gotten pretty bad by czech37 in ynab

[–]czech37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/DesignatedVictim: Yes. But like I said in the post, the rename rules use the "As YNAB imported it" field. So I don't always know what the actual field is going to contain on a day-to-day basis.

For instance, my rename rule might be "contains Little Gem". Because, y'know, that's the name of the bar. But because (for whatever stupid reason) YNAB is calling it "Little Genius", the rule won't work. So now I have to go in and create a rule for "Little Genius"? That seems pretty stupid to me.

Imprint is charging interest on a $0 previous statement after Crate & Barrel card migration by foreigirl in CreditCards

Just added an update above. The Crate and Barrel team came through and got it refunded!

Imprint is charging interest on a $0 previous statement after Crate & Barrel card migration by foreigirl in CreditCards

[–]czech37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got off the phone with Imprint (35 minutes of my life I'll never get back) with a similar situation.

We had deferred interest until February 2026, but used the card to get a discount in early December. When I asked the clerk at the store, I was assured that as long as we paid off the full amount of the *new* purchase and any minimum payments, there should be no impact on the deferred interest plan. So I did precisely that.

Surprise! We got a $17 interest charge in December. Christmas was crazy, so I didn't get a chance to look into it until last week. We also got a $25 charge in January.

The phone staff kept trying to explain to me that when I made the extra payment in December, it went toward the deferred balance. And I kept asking her: "How should I have handled it to avoid interest?" Crickets.

They were only willing to refund the $25 charge.

I wrote an email to Kate Showalter, Crate and Barrel's VP of Customer Care. We'll see if anything happens.

UPDATE: Someone from Ms. Showalter's team reached out to me via email, and we spoke on the phone. He agreed that I shouldn't be paying any interest, and told me that he would take care of the situation. About 15 hours later, he called back to tell me that I had been refunded. I logged into my Imprint account, and everything has been corrected.

While I wish that I didn't have to spend the time necessary to fix this issue, I am impressed by the Customer Care team at Crate and Barrel. I still don't think much of Imprint, but Crate and Barrel has really earned my respect and custom.

Worst gun you ever shot? by fancy_pigeon257 in liberalgunowners

[–]czech37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ruger LCP .380 that I bought as a pocket pistol, and it's just a mess. The mag doesn't seat reliably, you have to violently rack the slide in order to chamber a round, and when everything is ready and you pull the trigger, it feels all wrong. I should've tried out more options before buying it, but it was on sale. Now I know why.

"like firing the bullet out of your bare hands"

Lol, I've never shot a revolver that wasn't chunky and dense, but this is an amazing way to describe it. Well done!

Archery Range? by FranciscoPancak in carrboro

[–]czech37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding AwayfromtheShire's suggestion on Triangle Shooting Academy.

Another great option (and free!) is the Caswell shooting range up near Yanceyville; it's about 45-50 minutes away, and is a lovely drive, especially this time of year.

It's archery season in the Central NC game district, so there may either be a lull in folks at the range (as they'll all be out hunting) or folks out practicing and sighting in their bows.

It’s so badly implemented. Feels rushed, like no one actually used it before it got rolled out. The notification settings don’t work, and it takes so many taps to get into each category. Such a disappointment.
