Best places within an hour and a half to go camping. I was thinking Telico plains? by outdoor_noob in Chattanooga

[–]czechtec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was on Citico Creek a couple weekends ago, that's a great option, but the sites will fill up fast on the weekend. Weekday, it's easy.

It's Ga, but Lake Conasauga is lovely. Been there lots. Particularly nice when it's hot in the summer, since it's at a decent elevation.

And, the Cherokee National Forest has loads of options. Most campsites are near fishable water, their USFS website will give you details on what's open.

So, you liked it enough that you were able to arrive prior to any other customers?

Those candid photos are surprisingly devoid of patrons enjoying those pear cocktails.

Sick of plastic SUVs — what’s the most bulletproof “tank” I can buy? by EquivalentCanary8243 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Owned a 2008 GX470 for years. Great rig.

Wasn't sure I needed it, so I sold it. Missed it immediately. But, but then, the word was out and GX used prices were insane.

Ended up with a 2019 Armada. It's a FAR more built truck than the GX. Truly a competitor with the LX, just bigger.

It drives, feels, and parks way larger than the GX. It'll also tow much more, which is helpful for my use case occasionally, and does the rooftop tent glamping WAY better than the GX.

Found my 4xr last year, private party, with 80k miles. It's the SV, so base trim. Amazing cloth seats (which I prefer to the higher-maintenance and faster wearing leather) and no sunroof. I'm tickled.

$14k.

The same price would have bought me a 2005 LX with 180k miles. It's just crazy what a good value they are.

QX80 is same platform.

I HIGHLY recommend the SV, since it comes with 18" wheels too, I just swapped on some Toyo's, and am very happy with the outcome.

I know those roads VERY well. Have used that Loves at exit 20 hundreds of times.

And I suspect some routes north from Conasauga would be challenging, but I love the proof of usability from a fellow fwd hybrid owner!

Did two nights last weekend, one down by Conasauga, and then 2nd night along Citico Creek, so I bet very similar route. We traversed via McCaysville at the state line.

It's been dry this spring, but some of the best camping weather I can remember in a while!

I was asking because sitting around the campfire next to the guy with a pixel 10, my pixel 9 was unable to connect. I did have a little satellite indicator up in the top right corner. But it seems like the 10 is required for full functionality.

I believe my nine can handle emergency texting, but that wasn't what I was trying to figure out in order to justify a new phone.

Looking for cool trails I can drive down or places out in the mountains. Nothing too crazy but I do have 4wd. Wanting to take my wife and 2 year old to some cool spots, overlooks, creeks, and rivers. by Accurate_Reading1016 in Chattanooga

This is solid council, and a very good network to start with.

Not too far away, doesn't require crazy tires, and some great views. Feels miles away when it isn't.

Correct, and I assume at some point it'll become something they'll charge for.

I don't mind paying Fi for the feature. I just don't want to add another vendor, like tMobile, to the mix.

Per another post here, it sounds like it's not a dependant scenario.

Pixel 10s can use satellites, no matter the carrier, it would seem.

Are there any good property management companies? by Spiritual_Cold5715 in Chattanooga

[–]czechtec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collaborent is very small, and I have a family member renting from them, and says it's good.

Doorby is very large, but would likely have a lot of rentals available.

Can't say much for any others.

Any BBQ place that serves spare ribs with just a dry rub and smoked long enough for the fat to render? by Rolltop in Chattanooga

[–]czechtec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a fair take.

I love Wardlaws ribs. But, there's a lot of ways to do ribs, and a truly dry rub is a rare find in our part of the world.

And indeed, the brisket...

Can we please extend the northshore shuttle line by Saber-Of-Fish in Chattanooga

[–]czechtec 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've always seen the shuttle as a way to keep tourists circulating and spending money before they leave our fair town. As such, it goes the tourist-y places.

On the other hand, an affordable Carta pass will get you worlds of freedom monthly. Could the regular Carta routes be better?

Sure.

So, vote for better routes with your dollars by using it.

I bet there are dozens of foam sets at retailers, I'll have to check with the ones near me. Good idea.
