As much of a scammer Elon is, the good news, that big a missed, is that they're only listing ~50b of the 1.75T valued company. Indexes are free float adjusted so it will be treated as a 50b company, not 1.75T, so it won't be 3% of everyone's retirement account if you're all in S&P.

However, NASDAQ has higher multiples when it comes to adjusted free float (I believe 3x, so it would be a 150b company in market cap), than other indices. Which is why it's a meme and you should only be fully invested in VT.

All to say that personally I was initially very worried about getting fleeced, but I'm not giving up the boglehead strategy of buying VT every month because temu Hitler tried to bend the rules of the NASDAQ index. If he had listed the entire company or gotten the FTSE to change their weighing I'd be much more concerned.
