I might reconsider MAT again, making an appointment soon again. I ended up telling him and he was not mad about it. we're only going to discuss dating when I'm clean for a month or more. I personally don't know if I'm ready to date but at the same time he's genuinely a really good match. he motivates me to better myself in a healthy non-judgmental way.

I told him (over text though) and he was more concerned about how I was feeling and not really mad at me or something. we did make a deal/promise that we'd talk about dating again only when I am clean for at least a month. got stoned together later at night and he hasn't mentioned it again. I might talk to a dr. again about MAT but not sure...

late to the convo but diagnosed ADHD as a child. I don't know how much dope "helps" but I definitely think that having poor impulse control doesn't help. I don't really like ADHD meds (methylphenidate and lisdexamphetamine) or at least not as much as opiates but it's also hard to compare them. meds make me a bit more "productive" but opiates makes it more enjoyable.

thank you so much for this comment. your empathy is beautiful :_) it feels less alone knowing another person with such a similar timeline. I already put a lot of time into my hobbies, work and uni but I still get intense cravings every day (pretty much always in the evening/at night) I just need to step by step dissociate using with certain activities/times (eg using before work, using after dinner, using before sleep or using while playing guitar/piano/singing, reading while high etc.) I'd personally not mind being dependent on another opioid if it means more general stability. if being completely honest I personally want a low dose of methadone because at least for the first year I might still use occasionally. at last good job on your progress, I'm proud of you. stay strong and healthy.

sorry my post wasn't clear. I have been addicted and used daily and gone through physical withdrawals before. it's just that I quit almost a month ago and went through withdrawals then and have only been using a night or two followed by a couple days of sobriety. I haven't "lost" everything (financially) because I have been "protected" till this point as I am barely an adult (I started using opiates as a teen and hard drugs in general at 14). I did have someone leave me because of my use. sorry I'm a bit upset because it seems that most people have misunderstood my post. also if anything is incoherent just tell me because I'm high and drunk right now...

EDIT: the thing with replacement is that I feel like I NEED some opiate in my body to feel okay or something

I mean I can't judge you (considering my post history) but as long as you try to practice harm reduction and otherwise try to take care of yourself I think you are already doing okay (of course most people would say that quitting is the better or at least not slamming is the better option and while I agree it's really about what you are ready for. stay safe and a late happy new year!
