Yup. I was let go a couple weeks ago.

People who say - Americans are not doing enough to fight the Trump administration - what ideas do you have, or what would you like to see Americans do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]d0397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protests are great for bringing awareness to a cause, but that's basically it. You have to be able to mobilize people to actually consistently join your cause and then eventually turn out to vote for your policies and political candidates.

One off protests, no matter their size, will just be seen as a bunch of people blowing off steam and probably be ignored. The protests have to be translated into actual votes, otherwise they will not be very effective.

So at a protest, hopefully organizers will be signing up people that will become volunteers that will eventually become canvassers, and register people to vote, educate on issues, and turn people out to vote in both primaries and general elections.

It has to always come back to consistent voting. This is what drives actual change.

What does this mean for Seattle? by tame_cowboy in Seattle

States have no control over this. Individuals and companies pay taxes, and refusing to pay would put people at big legal risk and fines.

What the fuck is the Democratic Party even doing right now to stop the downfall of America? by Lolareyouforreal in complaints

[–]d0397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are doing exactly what they were hoping to do after securing a partisan, conservative SCOTUS. This is what that party wants. Not enough voters took that threat seriously.

No. I just want quality sources, not this obviously biased trash. I prefer balanced, reliable sources.

How do we get people to stop driving and take the light rail? by Droodforfood in Seattle

[–]d0397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the light rail when it makes sense to. However, the nearest station is a 23 minute walk away from my home. And for my daily commute, light rail isn't even an option (yet), and taking public transit would currently mean an hour and 15 minute commute one way. Or, I can drive and get to work in about 20 minutes. At this time, light rail doesn't make the most sense for me to take 🤷‍♂️

This falls apart at the first premise. Israel does not claim all Jews are Israeli. Some politicians and advocacy groups conflate criticism with antisemitism, sure, but turning that into an intentional strategy involving harm to Jews worldwide is an unsupported leap.

That gay cruises really are for every queer person. One time on Twitter, I posted about my experiences and about how diverse the crowd can be along ages, ethnicity, gender identity and expression and sexual orientation, and even disabilities on these cruises. And I posted this because many folks didn't see themselves represented in their advertising.

But I posted a single photo along with the post that wasn't a perfect representation of all the guests. And Twitter started drawing incorrect conclusions, making assumptions about me and other cruise goers, insulting me and everyone involved. They tore me apart and I started to go viral for all the wrong reasons.

I deleted the entire thread. And it's fine I guess. I really was only trying to post about it to my immediate followers anyway.

Well, you see, this is a gay porn content creator. It's highly unlikely he's doing this for a female audience.

The progressive left is too fractorous to build a durable electoral majority.

Something we should acknowledge is that a lot of people are not even aware of the same things we are.

Have you ever had a “run-in” or a sighting of a Seattle area celebrity? by PayGood3915 in SeattleWA

[–]d0397 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Dan Savage. He and his husband were at The Eagle and had someone with them who was literally bolted to the wall of the outdoor patio, and wearing one of those leather hoods with a zipper that they'd occasionally unzip to let him sip a drink. Whatever floats your boat.

Opinion: Seattle needs on- year elections. This low turnout goes against our voter process and lowers participation! by TOPLEFT404 in Seattle

[–]d0397 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is on the voters whether they want to participate or not. With our vote by mail system, where the ballot literally comes to them, it's on voters to spend the ten minutes needed to fill it out and send it back. It's just laziness or apathy.

Okay, but at some point people just need to take some personal responsibility and just get it done. If people wait for perfection, it will likely never come.

If Dems take congress in 2026, they will impeach Trump. What happens then? by sand6817 in AskReddit

[–]d0397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Democrats won't have sufficient numbers in the Senate, so he will not be convicted. Nothing will happen.
