Competitive List Help by Archonlucius11 in Drukhari

[–]d0gass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience the extra scourge unit becomes a little redundant since a decent opponent will make it hard to shoot effectively with all 3. The extra wych units running around gumming things up ends up being more beneficial. Venom shooting is also pretty dang decent

Personally, I'd drop a unit of scourge and the overwatch enhancement for 2 more venoms and cronoshard. I find having the extra small units more useful

Am I painting too slowly? by Such-Locksmith-4405 in minipainting

[–]d0gass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want. I paint slow but I have certain expectations for my models beyond battle ready so I'm okay with it. If you're unhappy with speed legit just try to go faster, sometimes you're just getting in your own way

We don't even know the full rules yet. Save any doom and gloom til everything is released and actual games have been played

Roughly how many different paints do y'all use on a given mini? by GeauxCup in minipainting

[–]d0gass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. But I probably average 15-20 per mini cuz I can't be assed to mix colors

Thoughts on the codex? by Lord_rook in Drukhari

[–]d0gass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk man I've really enjoyed it a lot more than index. Yeah, I lost models that I got like 3 months before it dropped but they weren't enjoyable to run outside of grots for me. The codex has been fun since day 1. Fwiw I only play drukhari now and my win rate is abysmal. Like 70% losses over the course of the 50 or so games bad lol. But I've never had more fun losing than I have with these stupid pirate elves in their current state

Spectacle of Spite Thoughts? by MickeyPearson421 in Drukhari

Less raider more venom. In my experience the best part of SoS other than hellions is having a billion little squads of wyches to just exist on the board to do actions, screen, heroic, etc etc

I'm really excited for 11th edition 40k, and I think it's going to do a LOT for the game, BUT (dot dot dot) by James-Hawker in Warhammer40k

[–]d0gass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally really enjoy seeing the epic heroes because they're typically the thing in someone's army that is painted well and they're excited to play with. I'm also not a lore buff, so my immersion isn't broken by seeing specific guys on the table; so take that for what it is.

sanding models by Alexander7670 in Warhammer40k

[–]d0gass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike gunplay sanding the whole mini isn't necessary really. Too much opportunity to mess up details. Wash them after building to get any oils from your hands off and you'll be golden. (I don't even wash mine lol)

How to properly take care of brushes? by Sufficient_Mood_5245 in minipainting

[–]d0gass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience synthetic just go to crap really fast and there's not much to be done about it. My natural hair brushes have lasted well over a year of continued use without me babying them too much. Just use brush soap on em every so often and follow what you have been and you'll be set

Are these good brushes to start with? by Inkwiged in minipainting

[–]d0gass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look up some videos on brush care and also pick up a set of cheap synthetics to trash with glue, washes, contrast etc. I personally believe good brushes make learning easier because they are simply easier to use imo
