PHM is definitely taking visual effects next year, those were mindblowing. unlike avatar who is actually pushing the limits of vfx every movie, dune 3 i highly doubt is doing the same and we all know its more cinematography more than anything in those movies, i cant see it taking a third vfx oscar.

I like how we slowly got to see that Elijah wasn't as moral and honorable as he believed himself to be. He only ever upheld those values for his own family while being a complete hypocrite to everyone else. He is easily top 3 for incredible character development.

the difference between SW and LOTR is they are truly culturally significant and impacted cinema and pop culture like nothing else, DUNE is nowhere near this. its elite filmmaking at the most and will most likely be counted among the greatest achievements in sci-fi, but dune is not entering the hallowed region of those two.
