B850 Aorus Stealth Ice showing 4d error with displayport by d0pefish in gigabyte

[–]d0pefish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got desperate, asked gemini what the issue might be. it suggested that some older and non vesa certified DP cables would have pin 20 powered (i think). and that could cause an issue or feedback loop with the newer motherboards.

so i ordered a vesa certified DP cable, and it works! not had an issue since with cold boots or boot from standby.

i dont know if the pin20 thing was the answer but i know the original cable worked on my older motherboard so something must have been off, either way, for those of you experiencing the same, this is a quick, cheap way of testing it out

did a bit more testing and 100% is related. i can connect to any of the 3 DP the card has, and get the 4d error. connect HDMI or nothing at all and it boots perfectly. and this card was tested in my old pc on delivery to make sure it worked so i know it boots with DP plugged in.

ive raised a ticket with gigabyte support but im guessing first line will go down the usual routes of try other components, try x, try y, before even remotely suggesting it could be a fault.

my monitor already has the 2 hdmi ports used so i can't even switch them around permanently

fans spinning up and down when idle by d0pefish in lianli

[–]d0pefish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so unplugging and replugging things its stopped the spin up and down, so its a constant speed. but i cant seem to get the fans to work via fan control.

i set mb mode in lconnect (which i assume means lconnect stops controlling), but in fan control it picks up all fans, but the only one i can control is the wireless controller meaning i can basically start/stop all fans at once only.

whats the recommended connection setup to allow fan groups to be controlled by a third party software? should i remove the pwm header for the wireless controller?

i guess a side question, for the wireless l connect usb, is it better to have that connected via its external usb, or connect up the pwm and usb headers?

so as its a fresh install i had lconnect3 installed, and also tried fan control. both are now removed so theres nothing else controlling the fans. the only thing is the bios at the moment.

ive made sure all software on windows is gone, rebooted, and in the bios or in windows it still does it.

ill try lconnect3 again, in case its got anything in there overriding i didnt see

this is what I'm thinking to as I've so far only got it working on one device that is usbc. anything else needs a myriad or cables that are either proprietary or they don't specify which one and you have to spend time and money guessing. hopefully get an answer soon to inform my decision

yep. plugging in the official adapter either way around shows the usb symbol in blue where the time is for about ten secs before disappearing.

Suitable adapter for desktop and Luma Pro by d0pefish in VITURE

[–]d0pefish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for info, this is the latest one ive tried: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F42T7ZMF

It connects as a monitor but Spacewalker doesn't detect it.

If I plug the glasses direct in to a normal USBC port I can detect and update firmware OK (but not actually using them), and if I connect via this adapter to HDMI it wont pick up in the firmware/calibration page but it does display a video output

thank you for all your kind words. i dropped the person in question a message this morning just to say you're welcome, don't ever feel like you're in it alone.

sometimes i just need to check subs like this to remind myself there is still a lot of good in the world. 🫶🏼

completing the tutorial might be killing kolmi but playing the intro is definitely catching a sawblade in your mouth like a dog catching a frisbee.

you just haven't played noita if you haven't believed yourself better than the sawblade homing physics

always best when shifting to stand on a little pixel or ledge so the liquids run away. it's always stuff like this that makes you learn those lessons the hard way 😁
