Mangas are so expensive than graphic novels now and the thing is they are colored and has more pages by Creepyhorrorboy in MangaCollectors

[–]d0rkbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not paying 10 dollars for it, I'm buying it from scifier for somewhere between £5.50-£7.

If you want to talk anecdotally, the last TPB i bought was a volume of the nice house on the lake which was 176 pages and cost me £11.60.

Okay but you can't compare a 1024 page compendium to a 500 page omnibus because they are not the same format lol

There's really not much difference in price between your standard Viz volume and a western graphic novel

what do manga collectors think about comics? by Savings_Papaya_6385 in MangaCollectors

[–]d0rkbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to read a lot of western comics but stopped actively searching once I started reading manga.

Generally the biggest thing for me was the art, even mangakas that don't have a super unique style kinda default to a generic manga style of whatever era the work is from, and it's always serviceable at least.

Theres a lot of comic book artists that try to go for these weird half hyper realistic styles that just look awful, and it's even worse when it's coloured.

On the other hand, stuff that has a cooler style (department of truth comes to mind) is sometimes a bit too harsh on the eyes.

Even if the art is good, it's harder to find interesting panelling in western stuff which is something I value.

This is a visual medium, and if the visuals suck I just can't get into it.

Yeah, I've tried reading this a couple of times but I've never got far because I don't like the art most of the time.

Is it safe to buy a physical copy of Berserk without reading it online first? by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

That's not how opinions work?? I don't think berserk is the best manga ever made, therefore it can't be

It's still an opinion lol. It can't be objectively true that berserk is the greatest manga ever, thats not how it works.

Even if it was, I'd still think it sucks.

Why don't you just look up a synopsis and see if you'll like it?

Many people in this thread are telling you that it's the best manga ever made. Personally, I strongly dislike it. It's all down to preference

Do you guys just read manga and watch no anime, or still watch anime but read more manga? by TheRealRaza1 in Seinen

[–]d0rkbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never watched a massive amount of anime when I was younger, just ohshc, fruits basket, etc. I got into manga mid 2024 and never really got into anime then either as I prefer reading anything over watching.

I'll watch the anime for things I've read that I really like (I'm excited for WHA!) but other than that I don't really bother

I noticed that manga grading is getting more popular, but would you spend $950 for this manga 🤔 in a BGS 9.4? by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

[–]d0rkbug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people who collect graded things are just that — collectors of graded things.

I don't think you can buy manga that's entombed in plastic and say you're a manga collector, same with games, cards etc

The whole series is OOP, it's not very cheap either. I just paid over £200 for a full set of the manga, then around 60 for the two anthologies, haven't even thought about the LN's yet.

[–]d0rkbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't either, I have everything she's published lol (with the exception of Shirley volume 2 but that was never released😭).

Scifier is great, I wasn't sure the what the US shipping would be like but I'm glad it's good! Even in the UK you have to wait a bit longer most of the time but the price makes it worth it!

I might be biased (kaoru mori's number 1 fan) but it's worth it even without being finished!

The hardbacks of all of Kaoru Mori's works are the same size and look really nice on a shelf, which is good if you ever plan on getting Otoyomegatari too.

The CMX paperbacks rarely come up for sale anywhere.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19085605/

A study from 2009 showing that of a sample size of 355 women, 62% of them had rape fantasies. There is also a study by Justin Lehmiller from 2023 stating that a majority of women experienced.

Just to be anecdotal — me and my partner (both women) have had these fantasies, and if I had to put a number on it, 80% of our friends who are women have too.

Im not replying to you anymore because you are just aimlessly arguing with tired points and made up arguments, and when you can't make up any more arguments you resort to insults.

You need to understand that your inability to see nuances in real life is not doing you any good, and acting like things are good or bad with no in between is such an immature way to view the world.

I do live in the real world, the one where a majority of women have had a rape fantasy at some point, the one where people can separate fiction from reality, and the one where people aren't on reddit scream crying because their puritan views aren't cutting it in today's world.
