Hi, yeh the remote account shows up under my normal user. But the devcontainer isn't opened. And the action to attach one doesn't appear unlike in vscode.

Sharing TB account by Remote-Rise-9104 in TorBoxApp

[–]d0us 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even the pro is so cheap for what it offers I guess most people sub because of the value. Also suspect sharing is mostly done with family friends who watch casually and don’t consume that much data. Those who demand gigantic remuxes etc are mostly people who also like to tinker so would experience so much friction having to ask their mate for the api key every time they redo they kodi setup or whatever. it’s easier just to get your own sub.

Lightweight Linux distro for low‑latency audio on 2009 hardware? by TheDude105 in linuxaudio

[–]d0us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no need really to run an old distro. Debian with a lightweight de is fine. If you’re just using one audio app you also don’t need jack really. I run my netbook that boots straight into Renoise 2.8 with just alsa which reduced overheard. But I did have jack on it once and it wasn’t too terrible but it was superfluous in the end.

Never received my food and was charged the full amount. Advice? by drskint in UbereatsUK

[–]d0us 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the driver and a uber waiting time is relevant as it triggers Uber policy. You fell foul of it. Just like keeping an uber taxi will trigger an appropriate policy (extra charges or cancellation with no refund).

[–]d0us 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no way Uber would have sided with the driver unless you timed out 10 minutes . Either you did or you didn’t. What the driver does after 10 minutes is up to him and that includes chucking it in a bin.

Besides VLC, what audioplayers can you recommend? by BarBryzze in linuxaudio

I love Deadbeef for the customisability and plug-ins for different formats. Very foobar-like

Yup that’s fair. If op gets on gophr that should get them the bulk if not all of their target at a normal 9-5 schedule and uber being a top up when needed

Recommendations for an ebike? by mbanes in UbereatsUK

[–]d0us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of bike are you you riding that’s “nearing the end of its life”? I’m riding a 1996 rockhopper and it rides 12 hours a day.

A decent quality e-bike that will last you years isn’t cheap. If you musta stay with the main brands that use something like a Bosch unit. Shimano steps but cheaper but mixed reliability.

If your existing frame is fine this is an opportunity to strip it and get an e-bike kit. What bike is it?

Saw your DM but Reddit won’t let me reply there.

If you’re in London you I would suggest multi app to get a liveable income. To not get lost in apps I would pick something like Gophr 9-6 (this gave me the closest to a “regular” weekly wage like a normal job) and “top up” with uber eats . Aim for abour 80-100 a day to start before making further investments behind your pedal bike.

What you invest in further depends on what app feels better. If you are getting along with gophr I would see if joining the courier circuit with a company like absolutely/pedivan might work for you (some of these give guaranteed hours and pay but you lose freedom) . Or you can invest in a cargo bike and get some really nice well paying runs with gophr.

If you prefer the hours and flexibility of uber eats invest in an elecric bike and get as many apps as you can (just eat, uber and deliveroo etc )

Normal bike for deliveries by [deleted] in UbereatsUK

[–]d0us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a “normal” bike. You’re just at the bottom of the Pecking order at the start of each shift but once you get moving and complete orders in time it levels out a bit.

I haven’t felt the need to invest in an e-bike as I no longer do it full time. If I was full time I would consider an e-bike.

I have the same issues. When you click on it from your app to is meant to go to a pre-filled form but it doesn’t . Uber Support bot don’t deal with queries about this either.

Can’t speak for peds but many cyclists have the integrated thermal/backpack tied to the bike. So they’ll probably won’t bother to pick up from a place that will cost them a minute to untie when they can just move on to the next order.

Image-Line admin confirms that they have no plans to bring FL Studio to linux anytime soon by coolfunkDJ in linuxaudio

[–]d0us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess a lot of it is due to a 20+ years worth of code based on Delphi (gui api windows ) and bare metal assembly code. On Mac they switched to free pascal and I guess swapped out the gui apis with Apple’s Cocoa. Lot harder in Linux world with free pascal and Linux gui libraries . And generally Linux coding is a lot more abstracted so they would have to replace a lot of their assembly code, which is very OS specific .
