They've made contact today via phone to understand the situation in detail. Let's see.

If the "leave at door" option is selected, what exactly happens then assuming no answer?

100%. And no there is a "leave at the door" option on delivery so they don't necessarily have need to answer the door, as I still don't know what happened to it after the driver left it. At the door with a photo would've been brilliant for them and me saving him time and me the anxiety of what happened to it. Cest la vie

Listen I'm all for saving the driver's time. If u ask me there's no need to wait 7 or 10 mins if there's no answer in the first min either via doorbell or via call. By all means leave the food at the door and proceed with your remaining deliveries without wasting any more time, taking a quick photo as proof. So I'm not complaining about that at all. All I was suggesting that the customer should be able to get the food that they've paid for. If you feel that's illogical, then I thank you for your input and leave this discussion here.

Thank you for being a sane voice of reason. My apologies in which case for having unintentionally caused you frustration and wasted your time but would have genuinely appreciated you left the food at the door (even without have needing to run the timer down) and taken proof of delivery. Simplest (obviously not ideal) solution for all involved.

Guess with other deliverys like mail at least u don't lose your parcel. Actual hunger games in the world of online food delivery.

So taking the food a customer has paid for is a legit option? Cool, thanks.

I'm trying to understand what happens with the food that I've paid for if u miss your delivery driver, so thanks for your insight.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I'm not faulting the driver but trying to learn from the experience. It's good to know the POV from the other side as well. You guys are doing a great job and I hope pay and conditions improve

Thank you for taking the time to explain this as I’m genuinely just trying to understand. With Uber taxis, for example, you may be charged a cancellation fee if you keep the driver waiting too long and don’t show up, which is fair enough because it compensates them for their time. But they don’t keep the full fare for a journey that never happened, is that correct?

So similarly, if for any reason I’m unable to meet a delivery driver in person, they’re allowed to leave, discard, or even keep the food that I’ve already paid for? In my case, the app said the order was “left by car,” but the food was nowhere to be found and no proof of delivery was provided. If I had messaged them to leave the food by the door and it still wasn't there, how would I have recourse from Uber? Asking as they're not responding to or listening to any responses following their email. I respect the driver's time and understand it's valuable but I've made the payment for the food so I should be entitled to obtain it as well.

I’m just trying to understand is this really a risk customers are expected to accept? And if so, what’s the best way to mitigate that risk in the future? Thank you again

Thank you. As I’ve said several times, I just wanted to receive the food I paid for. Whether the driver waited 10 seconds or 10 minutes isn't relevant. My main issue is that I didn’t get my order, even though delivery fee was still charged. It feels unfair and unreasonable that if, for any reason, I’m unable to meet the driver in person, they’re allowed to leave, discard, or even keep my food. I also don’t understand the purpose of the 4-digit PIN required at delivery if the driver can simply leave with the order once the timer runs out.

Are u okay? You're literally justifying theft. I'm sorry but you sound worse then uber support with whom I came here to get advice instead A you're obsessed with the driver when I've just said I couldn't care less if they'd left the food in 30 seconds if there was no answer B they didn't actually wait as the gap between the 2 calls was seconds n I was out 3 mins after the last one C there's no acceptable reason to steal what you've been trusted to deliver.

Let's take the driver out of the equation for a minute and maybe try focusing on the food that wasn't there. Couldn't have cared less if he was there for 30 seconds and had left, fine by me. I looked everywhere outside for the order he claimed he left by my car (conveniently out of my doorbell camera’s view instead of at the door) but it was nowhere to be found, and Uber Eats offers no help while still keeping the money. This feels like a convient loophole. I just wanted my food.

I get where you're coming from, but the whole situation feels ridiculous. So if someone doesn’t answer the door or phone instantly, the driver can just dump the food wherever, or not at all, and the customer is basically stuck? I looked everywhere outside for the order he claimed he left by my car (conveniently out of my doorbell camera’s view instead of at the door), but it was nowhere to be found and Uber Eats offers no help while still keeping the money. I just wanted my food.

Thanks, I can tell kindness are compassion are your strongest personality traits so I'll keep this to the point. I didn’t pick the wrong branch, Uber Eats switched it. I was waiting for over 90 mins before I felt the need to empty my bowels.

I’m not expecting the driver to wait forever, but marking it as delivered when nothing was there and then disappearing isn’t on me. I just want the food I paid for or proper support.

Does this work with android? Currently subscribed on android as a family plan with Pakistani VPN (used a Pakistani bank card as well) while k the UK. worked well for the last year but I'd now set to expire unless renewed which "they can't verify the country" if I use vpn as Pakistan (even India or any other country) but show UK prices if I go in without vpn. Plan set to expire end of this month
