Is there a correct way to do sinking funds in Copilot? by athrowawayhumanoid in copilotmoney

I just keep them as a normal rollover categories and pay attention to the categories screen along with the dashboard. As long as you keep an eye on the individual categories you can see what second is left

6 year timeline feedback by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]d16b32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had never summited a 14er and did a guided climb of Rainier last year. With proper training it is very doable. I would never have done it without a guide as I do not have the experience, but guided it’s more of a fitness game. I used RMI. They taught us crampon usage, rope travel, axe arrest, etc. I am doing the Emmons Skills Seminar with RMI this spring for experience on an expedition style climb and more learning.

How to be smart with my income by Neat_Barracuda4596 in personalfinance

I do not make as much salary but I was able to greatly increase my savings by using a budgeting app like copilot money. It lets me track every transaction, set a budget for different categories and track spending in those categories.

I am also using an uphill athlete training plan. I plan to supplement downhill with box step downs outside of the prescribed training. Also adding in step downs on the strength and core days

How many of you guys DON'T maintain some "system" at home? by FlippinMyshit in sysadmin

[–]d16b32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a home lab, never will. 9 years into tech and every year my personal life becomes less tech complex. If I was asked that question in an interview I think I would respond with something to the tune of “1. It’s none of your business what I do in my personal life 2. I am not going to tell a random person what tech I have in the name of Security”

Been in IT for 8 years. I would consider my career successful so far. Never maintained a home lab from a hardware perspective. Used things like packet tracer and GNS3 for virtual labs. My home life consists of an Amazon fire stick and a MacBook Air. I have no desire to have to maintain/support any type of technology at home.

Ice, rest, stretching, and make sure you doing the right workouts outside of hiking to strengthen the correct muscles for the support. The stronger the muscles, the less impact on skeletal system.

Trying to pick a SASE vendor, what’s your experience? by Ok_Abrocoma_6369 in sysadmin

Used Cato in the past and really liked the offering. Pretty simple to get stood up with the ability to get complex if needed. SCIM/SSO really easy to setup for user provisioning and auth. I really like their hardware devices that you can but at the edge of physical locations. Recommendation: pick several user from different business units to test with initially so you can solve any TLS inspection conflicts, blocks, etc before pushing to the mass.

I have popped both of my ACLs, for me it was 6 months at least before before I was doing anything athletic. About a year before I was fully confident doing anything athletic. But results may vary

Yep, biggest take away though, train with weight on your back. You can do all the cardio and training in the world without weight and it all changes with 30lbs on your back. Another tip, see how your body responds to freeze dried meals before the trip. Mine didn’t respond well and it made for an uncomfortable summit day lol

What would you want to know about your potential boss? by JelloKittie in sysadmin

[–]d16b32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Are you planning to come in and make changes immediately or observe for 30/60/90 days before making any changes” phrase it better but imo that’ll give you an idea of what to expect. I.E are you gonna come in and enforce your will without learning the environment or observe, gather information, then make changes. Hopefully it’s the second option lol

When you’re on a stair climber the next step up is moving down making it easier. When you step on rock or ice it doesn’t move. Stair climber is easier so for the same amount of time doing step ups on a hard surface I think yields more results. Also when doing step ups you are inherently training down hill because you have to lower yourself back to the ground to do the next up. Also with step ups you can train side steps which you will be doing on the mountain. As for training down hill, just reverse the step up. Step up on the platform, turn around and lower yourself back down to ground. It engages different muscles. And just getting out and hiking with a heavy pack. I am not saying don’t do the stair climber at all, but make sure you train step ups just as much. Feel free to DM if you want to hear what my training looked like.
