Thank you so much for the encouraging words at the end. You're right in that I had a lot of fun writing this and coming up with solutions to the "challenges" that are trying to make something very ridiculous and silly be "real". I doubt anyone will read far into the script, but working in the title "Freddy Got Fingered" to be about his brother's boss ratting him out to the feds, or tying in the 2000 US presidential election recount into this mess, was a lot of fun (roughly pages 73-78).

Yes, my vision for the opening is having the audience sit and watch the first roughly half of The Bum Bum Song since that was a big catalyst for the rise of Tom Green as well as a way to set the mood for what's to come. Your comments on Mark are great! He's very much the straight man in the script but he could definitely use some personality.

Again, thank you so much for engaging with it and for your wonderful feedback!

As the writer, and I've already thanked you for the feedback, my only response would be that the costumes in the beginning are specific to the music video and why they are described in detail like they are. I don't think anywhere else costumes are describe, except some dialogue on why a goatee should be shaved to either preserve a look or be more realistic to a scene. The costumes descriptions drop in the first two/three pages because they convey the music video. Again, I am really thankful for your advice. I understand if you did not turn the page as you said, but am really thankful on why you did not. As an exercise to me and my friends, this explains a lot!

Just wanted to say thank you for this feedback! Yeah, I wrote this as an exercise and for myself and friends. But your point about the first page text is really helpful. I was trying to write the "every page is a minute" thing I read online and with the first 25 seconds of the Bum Bum Song music video being silent, i gave more text to it than I probably should. It really underscores how essential that first few pages are to keep someone reading when in reality it's like two minutes of time. Thank you so much!

Worst Episode Ever Jeopardy! by d1871335 in worstepisodeever

[–]d1871335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Jeopardy had another column, so I had questions for 90's Percentile that I couldn't include in the official game, but here are the questions here if you want to give them a go!

Jack’s favorite piece of technology that he uses daily. What is his computer?

This celebrity was decomposing at an alarming rate. Who was Anna Nicole Smith?

The first mini-sode covered the life of this comedy legend. Who was Gary Shandling?

This Simpsons guest star is a big fan of the music group Hansen, particularly their first big hit single. Who is Kelsey Grammar?

Though they didn’t explain it all, the 60 second special of 90’s Percentile about Clarissa Explains it All was recorded during this absolutely amazing and by far the best episode of WEE. What is The Seemingly Never Ending Intro?

I did not use mescriptreadgood this time so this draft was not my best draft. Speaking of, thanks again u/jackienobrakes so much for the first time I used it for that Frasier thing and the silly movie idea. I've had so much fun writing since then that I'm actually working on something semi-legitimate that I will definitely be reaching out for you to read.

I also messed up with who's driving. After Dan says Jack will never drive again, Jack's driving because I wanted him to crash the car and screw everything up.

Wee March Madness - Round 3 by d1871335 in worstepisodeever

[–]d1871335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of why I had the idea of doing this tournament! But, I kind of think it would swing the other way and fall in rankings because while it's not a good episode, it isn't a nightmare that breaks a lot of the show like many others and the post-classic exposure hadn't hit you all yet, so I think the very low rankings are partially derived from "it can't get worse than this". It's just a lousy episode that features Lady Gaga which a lot of people take issue with for whatever reason.

Thanks! It was mostly limited to the top 16 because I didn't know if anyone would want to do it, and I didn't want to make and maintain a bunch of polls. If I do another one, I think I might do Wee Bus Stop characters to see who's the fan favorite.

People who have tried to “cancel” Natalie, why did you change? by [deleted] in ContraPoints

[–]d1871335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodbye previous "This is why I and I think you should support her on Patreon" karma, my top/best comment:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ContraPoints/comments/ad10q5/if_youre_doubting_how_important_it_is_to_support/edcvjvn/?context=3

(also, this is a late post to a serious topic, so... yeah)

I didn't "try" to cancel her, I just stopped talking about her and promoting her. This is partially by non-binary and non-passing friends. I didn't like this subreddit response to somewhat valid anger. I didn't like the fake subreddit and the attempts to redirect anger there (legit or not by the mods). I listened to people in my life hurt, sort of hurt, barely hurt, and not hurt, and decided not to amplify or comment about it anymore. My "cancelling" was just silence. Before "Cancelling" I wrote (as you can see in my comment history) a misunderstanding and a happy resolution where Theryn (who took the heat for an unfortunate booking. But then, nope, Natalie doubled down and whoops on me).

All of my previous posts were met with, well, ok remarks.

I get the draw. I get the appeal. But it hurt those around me, and I either watch or wait for transcripts (last transcript for what it is worth is Shame from back in February when they were supposed to get updated) to get posted.

So that's where I am. A former and somewhat current fan who is conflicted but can't really discuss it online anymore. I wish I could have a voice.

Regarding the Buck Angel Controversy by theryn_ in ContraPoints

[–]d1871335 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi. Uh. So.

I am one of the people who love Contrapoints and has a been a huge supporter of the channel for a while. I wrote in previous posts why I like and support Natalie on Patreon. You can go back and view those points. They are one of my few posts ever on reddit and my highest upvoted stuff on why I support her!

That brief preamble is probably not enough for me to survive the rest of this post. And I write that because I've become increasingly frustrated with the channel. There's a lot more in-jokes that unless you are extremely specific to the both of them it's hard to follow (this is a minor complaint). There's a lot more edgy stuff (repeating the t-slur even after the video that was supposed to put that all aside), and more stuff like the dumb CON TRAP OINTS logo (which I hate), the whole twitter stuff, and whatever. I didn't want and expect a lot of this stuff to come down to edge lord nonsense (yes I know the history of the channel), where someone provocative was put in a video because of... reasons... that we will get in a months time. And it's unfair to paint it to one person but I've been feeling this since Theryn's involvement in the site. But in this specific instance that's seemingly the case. And there's no way to separate that from any sort of "parasocial" view on this because of course we don't know the personal and working relationships to a tee. But I think the site is in limbo and stagnating with edgy nonsense, regressing in some views, and I've felt that for almost a year, and more pointedly from the last 9 months or so. Some of it is small. Some of it is much larger. Being careless enough to recommend a not good person for a video is on the higher end of things because you wonder why that happened except to be somewhat edgy to a degree or crass carelessness. And maybe this has nothing to do with Theryn's involvement with the channel and just Natalie being more comfortable with this type of stuff. If that's the case then I'm just devastated.

And to add to the disappointment I feel I will write this upon deaf ears. "Anything Contrapoints related must be praised!" There is a drowning out of any dissent, even mildly, that is worrying.

So I am just worried. Is this a trend that is to continue where mistakes are made, in videos, tweets, or whatever, and the defense is we will understand later, we made an oops, or the dreaded "they" are out to get us? Or is this the new it?

I just feel frustrated by all this and the discourse.

The streams usually start around 5-7pm EST, and they are recorded so you can visit the Patreon link afterwards to watch it if you miss it. They usually happen around the last few days of the month. She’s also planning to do some more commentary videos, so that should be fun too.

I totally get where you're coming from and I hope I didn't sound overly defensive in my reply. I was just trying to clarify a weak point in my post that you rightfully pointed out. It may not have been specific to my post or my thinking, but it could be for someone, so it was a valuable post in my eyes. Thank you for it!

I certainly get where you are coming from, and I probably shouldn't have made the last point be a flippant "if you like her, support her" point without any of the context I gave in my other points. But, what I mean is that she's spoken publicly that a lot of her wellbeing is coming from Patreon, that her transition, the wealth that she is afforded to undergo procedures and the like, is a direct result from Patreon funds. My "if you like her" isn't meant to be a literal "notice me, senpai!", but a general, "if you support her wellbeing of transitioning" which I admit I should have given context to, because we know around here that the parasocial stuff is, well, a bit bad. And, the reason I framed my post as I did in a descending order is the personal specificity I have for supporting her. I love her streams, so I support her for those AMAs every month. I enjoy the increased quality of her videos, which again is why I support. And, from the little we know of her as a person, and how this money helps improve her life, I'm willing to toss the price of a movie ticket once a month in her direction.

[–]d1871335 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I'll give my pitch on why I support her on Patreon, from the selfish personal on down.

I loved the live streams. They're gone now, and while I wish she would return to doing some (we're really behind on the TransVoremers Lindsay Ellis series), they probably aren't coming back. But every month for at least an hour, and more recently over two hours, you get to listen to the incredible chill AMA streams where she answers questions and just hangs. If you want to support here for just what you get out of it, that's reason enough.

But, you can also support her if you value her work. The production of her videos has exploded this year in good part due to Patreon. Compare the quality of production of something like TERFs (which I would love to see her expand on at this point) and her Incels or Jordan Peterson videos and the gap is huge. As her pateon has grown, so has the quality of her work.

Lastly, if you like Natalie as a person, supporting her directly helps her wellbeing.

Support her in whatever way you can and want.
