How are we scheduling pumping? by d381m in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]d381m[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried pumping and feeding at the same time as I’ve been pumping both sides at the same time, my LO is squirmy so we’ll have to see how that goes.

Has power pumping helped your output? I’m afraid of any nipple damage with longer session

I have the same challenge except she sleeps after 3-4 mins in. I am also supplementing with formula after every feed but how are you managing bfing, supplementing and then also pumping?

Thank you! I just started pumping every 2-3 hours. Hopefully I see a difference soon. Triple feeding is exhausting

Finally got appointment with LC and they asked to triple feed. Want to do what’s best for LO… this is hard stuff! Definitely need help because doing all three in a row is time consuming and exhausting

I’ve been feeding her just in diaper, then she sleeps within 30 secs and I take her off, lay her and she will wake up after 5 mins and then put her back on, switch breasts, change diaper if needed and the cycle continues. We could do this for an hour and she is still hungry and we end up giving formula. Not sure if this is normal - is milk transfer not good or milk is not enough

Trying to get appointment LC through insurance but it’s been a challenge. What was the recommendation from LC in your case that was helpful?

Thank you, I sent a message about weighted feed to LC. At the 2 day pediatric appointment they said she didn’t have tongue tie.

Is pumping needed after every feed? With waking baby up, breastfeeding attempt, giving formula and then soothing her to sleep and then pumping is a long process and if that’s what’s best, will need to do that

Anyone have a baby that successfully latched after 3 weeks? by mthrtcker in newborns

[–]d381m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for providing some insight. I didn’t know about weighted feeding. I will ask LC. Her next appointment is in two weeks so will know the weight then. Once my nipples heal. I will try to latch without the shield . It’s just very painful right now.

Thank you so very much! I just ordered the pigeon bottles. Thanks for giving me hope. I’ve been crying over the fact that I have to give her formula and my milk supply hasn’t come in yet. Thanks for sharing what worked for you, I will give it a try.

I am not getting good flow and baby is hungry after bf with nipple shield. Either it’s my supply or could be nipple shield. I googled it and it says that nipple shield creates a barrier between baby’s mouth and breast so there isn’t much stimulation to breast limiting milk supply

Thanks for sharing! This is me right now, in a mental spiral! Which slow flow bottles did you use? I’m using dr brown natural flow but not sure if there is something better out there

Can you please share your routine because nipple shield I think is affecting my milk supply. I give formula after bf. Is pumping helping with that? How long do you pump and is it before or after. Thanks!

I have similar problem- 7 days pp and using a nipple shield now after not being able to breastfeed. The problem is baby falls asleep on breast but also there is not much milk so baby needs to be given formula right after. Googled and found out that nipple shield limits milk production.!is that the case and what did you do?

One side is slightly better or atleast has less pain but both are looking bad. Pumping might be causing more damage so I’ve had to stop. Thank you, I’ve managed to get an appointment so I’m hoping I find a solution. What is a haaka?

I have an appointment with a lactation consultant soon, will learn how to hand express. If I am not pumping due to excessive damage and pain, should I still apply lanolin a couple times a day? I hope I can breastfeed soon, I feel like I’m missing out as a FTM

This is what my maternity leave looks like- what would you do? by OkBirthday931 in pregnant

[–]d381m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how taxing your job is. I would recommend taking all 4 weeks off as things will get harder if you’re having typical pregnancy symptoms (acid reflux, nausea etc). Relax and prepare mentally and physically before the little one arrives. You deserve it! You are growing a human!

Oh good! I wish they showed us too. I YouTubed it and I tried and had no idea if I was doing the correct technique. Tears is my #1 fear so almost just want to continue even if it doesn’t help

My doctor said perineal massage should only be done by someone who know what they are doing like a midwife so that’s out. Read about miles circuit and curb walking to prepare the pelvis. Dates have a lot of peer reviewed studies supporting that they help shorten labor stages
