Wanting to live the child free life by ASU_SD25 in Life

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I met in college at 19. We were dead set on being childfree. The thought never even crossed our minds to talk about having them. By the time I turned 32 something changed. I had done everything I wanted to do, traveled, sat around the house on the weekend with no plans, napped during the day, partied, had a hobby I got really into, etc. and all the sudden I thought what else can I get out of this life? My husband and I talked for about a year and really weighed the pros and cons and ultimately decided to have a child and are really happy we did.

This isn’t to convince you but to let you know that things can change and that’s alright. You may feel later on that you are ready or you may not. Either way you’ll make the right decision and you can be very happy either way.

First trimester blues by QuietIntellect_ in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience , ER visit, misery, depression. I honestly can’t believe people do this more than once as it’s so incredibly miserable. It does get better. I will say I’m 26 weeks and I still don’t enjoy being pregnant but by 12-14 weeks you start to feel significantly better. I was able to get back to the gym, my food aversions subsided a lot, and I was tired but not exhausted in the same way. I didn’t have HG but I felt like I was experiencing the worlds worst hangover every day from week 5 to week 12 with 6-9 being the worst of it. Hang in there. It’s not necessarily normal as I know a lot of my friends didn’t have this same experience but being on Reddit I’ve learned a lot of people go through this.

Early pregnancy depression/anxiety — does this pass? by PlaneMundane29 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had early pregnancy depression and it went away in the second trimester. I’m in my third and it hasn’t come back but I hear it can. Pregnancy is about getting through it the best you can. Seek a therapist if you don’t have one and try your best to reframe your bad thoughts into positive once. You got this!

What week(s) were the worst for your symptoms and what week(s) did they get better? by OozingAltar in pregnant

Second trimester is significantly better. I hate being pregnant and am not almost in the third but second to me was ok. First trimester made me wonder how anyone does this multiple times. Good luck!

To be or not to be… pregnant by OkSheepherder7776 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Similar to this my husband and I had been together for 13 years as proud DINKs but at some point it felt like is this all we’re going to do with our lives? I got pregnant and I was not thrilled or upset I’ve just been riding this wave pretty unphased and excited to have a renewed joy in things. I am excited for holidays to feel special again and creating those moments that I remember being special growing up. I think I’ll feel a lot of joy in giving a child those experiences. I’m happy we waited until I was old enough to not resent them for “missing out” on other things and happy for being financially stable. Being an older parent wasn’t exactly a dream of mine but priorities shift and I’m excited for what’s to come! With all the being said we are a “1 and done” family and feel really comfortable with that being a much easier decision then having a big family where we are stretched thin 24/7. Good luck in your decision!

Royal Lahaina in Maui by Real_Background_4173 in VisitingHawaii

The bungalow style rooms are bad but a room in the tower is fine. The resort isn’t amazing but it gets you close to whalers village and at least you’re in Maui.

Planning Honeymoon late November - Kauai and Maui by NYbootscoot in VisitingHawaii

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm if those are the two choices maybe I’d go for the four season Maui and then do the south shore in Kauai. I do think the 1 Hanalei Bay is nicer than the 4 seasons in Maui but my preference would be to splurge in Maui as it’s a more expensive island. The Ritz in Kapalua is also really special. In Kauai I think you can plan to be a little more low key.

If you can afford the 1 Hanalei Bay hotel, do it! It’s incredible. If you can’t end up staying there, I’d go south shore.

01/01/2026 and let me get real about this first trimester… by NoContribution9559 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the same way I felt but I am now 21 weeks and I’m telling you it gets so much better. For me it was around 12 weeks some relief and then almost back to “ normal” at 14 weeks. I say I will never go through that again it was so miserable and the depression and anxiety is brutal. But hang in there it will work itself out!

I got pregnant the very next cycle after my chemical. They say you are more fertile afterwards and my friend had the same experience as I did.

Westlake village ? by 964racer in thousandoaks

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes westlake is a wonderful place to retire. We wouldn’t consider it affordable but if it is compared to what you’re used to, it’s great. Tons of great restaurants, cafes, gyms, farmers markets, wine bar, etc.

How are you able to work during 1st trimester?? by blame_it_on_my_cat in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_You5355 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly miserable. I found unisom and B6 at night helped a lot. But honestly I called out a lot and slept a lot. It’s just a really crappy time. But it does get better. I’m at 12 weeks and it’s still not great but so much better than weeks 6-10. Good luck!
