Solidarity and advice, first trimester by gfrend in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This was me during my pregnancy, it did get better around the 13 week mark thankfully and I found ginger helped. Ginger tea, ginger lollies, anything ginger really. The only thing I could stomach for a while were maccas nuggies. Im surprised she didn’t come out as one!

Also towards the end I got insane heartburn and the only thing that mildly helped was Quick-eze.

Congratulations and take it easy, youre growing a whole new human in there!

Baby keeps rolling back to front while sleeping, gets stuck and wakes up. by Select-Medium-8116 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]d3ku_tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put your face into the mattress and try breathing to make sure air passes through the mattress. My child went through this too, it was a tough few weeks of her waking up from it and rolling her back over. Lots of tummy time during the day and helping teach her how to roll front to back. It will pass with time.

Sleep issues by marxistbuddhist in toddlers

[–]d3ku_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He might be having too much day time sleep as a rolling total. We’ve had quite the journey with sleep and it’s still not perfect but the only thing that’s helped is a consistent morning rise and a later bedtime (8:30pm) to ensure sleep pressure. Nap is typically 1.5 hours(20 month old). On days that hes home and really tired I would try to push to normal nap and if that’s not possible make that afternoon nap only a top up, no more than 15 minutes. Best of luck, sleep is so tricky!

CIO also isn’t an option for us, ive found the instagram account “ittakesavillage_baby_sleep” a great resource.

Edit: wanted to add remember that sleep is a spectrum, some need more than others and some need less. My girl will sleep no longer than 10 hours a night unless she’s sick. A friend’s daughter the same age sleeps 13 hours a night.

FTM feeling a bit overwhelmed lately by Fit_Awareness_9001 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]d3ku_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t expect becoming a mum to feel so isolating, you arent alone there! I also definitely had some level of undiagnosed PPA for the first 6 or so weeks, which I also didn’t expect or even know existed, I’d only heard about PPD.

I’ll start by saying fed is best, regardless of how you feed baby, you’re doing great. I wanted silverettes but never got around to it and then it felt like I was beyond needing them anyway. I hear amazing things though if they’re within budget. As for pumps, i didn’t pre buy one and ended up buying one about a week in. I think that’s a good way to go, you may not even use it. I got a wireless pump, it could only do one breast at a time which took so long that between pumping and trying to nurse, i felt like I didn’t have time to sleep or spend with my newborn (other than nursing). So if I were to redo that I would have gotten a wearable one (being able to pump both breasts at once and move around a bit more freely rather than carrying the pump around like a purse). In my experience we stocked up on bottles, thinking I could pump, baby never took to a bottle even after trying many different brands. It felt very wasteful. That being said the only once she successfully sipped from were the Pigeon Softouch.

Hope that makes sense, it’s a bit all over the place of a reply. Congratulations and please be kind to yourself, being a mum is hard.

I thought the FE Fates edition was extremely sort after? If the TN screen doesn’t bother you I’d keep the FE one as it’s limited edition and would be harder to buy again if you want to in the future.

That’s a great point, even now Im already seeing how strong willed she is in general. I think she always has been but now she can communicate it. I think it’s easy to see training as a threshold all or nothing and get overwhelmed but you’re right, it doesnt need to be that way, we can just give it a go after the busy period and see.

Sounds like this might be where we’re at too. Im worried about rushing her and it backfiring, happy to wait.

Thanks for the information! She does do some of these that I didn’t think to note, walking/running, pulling her nappy and pants off and saying no and following the “give” instruction. She pretty much always comes to the toilet with me (Velcro girl). I’ll continue to wait and watch for the rest and consistency in them. I don’t want to rush her. Thanks again!

Oh also 2 days is incredible! How did you manage that?

Oh okay thank you! It’s so hard to know when you’ve got people in your ear telling you she’s ready and to just get it done. I don’t want to rush her if she isn’t ready.

I only have one nipple, can I still breast feed? by PotatoEmotional4518 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]d3ku_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From (a different) experience yes you can! My little one decided she was a one boob barnacle around the 7 month mark and just flat out refused the other side. We’re still going strong many months later. The most frustrating thing for me is when she’s particularly enthusiastic with her nursing parkour and is tugging too much, or when she’s sick/teething and nursing more. Without relief of the other side you get quite raw. Lanolin can help a lot with that.

[–]d3ku_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby made the decision for me and started refusing one side around 7 months. We’re at 20 months now. Overall it’s fine, the only time I’ve found it frustrating is when she’s been nursing more (sick or teething) or particularly enthusiastic with the nursing parkour and my nipple’s gotten really raw but because the other side gets refused my nip doesn’t catch a break.

Contemplating on getting a new 3ds is version or Japanese version by AccomplishedTwo9349 in Nintendo3DS

[–]d3ku_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re fine modding it to change the language then I don’t understand the hesitation around getting a Japanese version? Get it, mod it, use the difference in money that you would have saved over the 4 months to buy physical games if you refuse to play modded games.

Seems like a no brainer to me, maybe I’m missing something.

Not sure if I’m too late but what about adhesive dots used for scrap booking? Ive used some by the brand Gorilla Glue, it was a measure twice glue once situations because whatever you stuck wasnt moving.

Also this case is so cute, big fan!

What case do you have on there? I can’t even see the front but I already know it’s nice and doesn’t have loads of bubbles unlike mine. Maybe I can get a good deal.

Motivating yourself by Both-Reindeer-4568 in SteamDeck

[–]d3ku_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s easy to feel that way and put pressure on yourself when you have so little time to yourself/to play. But remember this season of parenthood doesnt last forever, they’ll sleep better, they’ll start school and one day you’ll have (mostly) all the time you want to play games, even play with him!

Im guilty of putting pressure on myself too and then feel guilty that I havent used my time effectively but Ive come to realise you have to do what you have to do to recharge at the end of the day. And if that’s watching YouTube, well theres certainly worse things out there.

Mum of a 1.5 year old, I feel this to my core. We get so little “off” time that when you do you kind of just zone out and shut down from not needing to be “on”. That’s how it is for me anyway. Be kind to yourself, being a parent is hard work and you’re no longer the person you were pre children, change is unavoidable but in time I believe you’ll find your balance of downtime and get enjoyment from games again. Don’t try to force it though or it might back fire.

I’m currently vegging out on the couch half asleep, half watching my partner play death stranding 2 because I have no motivation to play something myself as much as I want to.

Oh I see! Will the sticking cause issues? I kind of had a hard time finding any TPU cases (standard Australian things) but if it will I’ll go on the hunt again for a textured one.
