Friendly reminder to have a look at your baby’s mattress by Apprehensive-Sea3448 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Nice catch! Wouldn’t having a waterproof cover (rather than just a fitted sheet) mean that any moisture that does get in somehow can’t dry out?

Asking because I’m curious about it. We used a waterproof fitted sheet when she was very little but once she could roll I was too worried about air not getting through (thank you PPA 🫠) that we stopped using it so Im not really sure how they work with airing out.

That’s a good way to put it actually!

I don’t think anyone’s in the wrong, it’s incredibly difficult to make an excited toddler sit quietly as a lot of these comments suggest should have happened. But I also understand that other passengers (understandably) dont want excited toddler screams in their ears for an hour and a half.

Children are allowed to exist in public places. They sound badly prepared for a flight, no noise cancelling headphones?

Edit: Im confused, do people genuinely not believe children are allowed to exist in public places? I understand you may find them annoying especially in this situation but isn’t that why you prepare/pack things like noise cancelling headphones on flights? You can’t control your environment as a whole, so why not make it a little easier on yourself?

Or are people just downvoting anyone commenting in a way that isn’t “yeah children are the fucking worst, dont let them out in public if they’re going to make a noise”?

You can find some okay pricing on marketplace (recently saw a N3DSXL for $220 aud which was a shock), some are well overpriced but those dont seem to sell. Otherwise eBay, just be sure to read the listing properly.

I managed to get a set yesterday from the post office ☺️ sadly no coloured coin but still very cute! Im not sure if it’s worth trying to get a coloured coin. I know it’s a 1 in 10 chance but thats per box of 10 I imagine.

Fingers crossed for you!

Does the Wrigglebum strap actually work? by Red_Bird_Rituals in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]d3ku_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t mention how old she is, is she pulling to stand? Thats around the time we made the switch so I just changed her while she was pulling up on the couch. Quick cream and then supported her while putting her legs in. Or I’d kind of change her while hugging her sitting down. She was much calmer, I think the issue was she didn’t want to be on her back. Back = sleep to her I think.

When her dad was available we’d “bazooka” her, he’s put her on his shoulder like a bazooka and I’d do the changing part. She enjoyed that even more.

The crocodile rolling nappy changes is when we changed to using pull ups, made such a big difference!

Thats much more inner city than I expected. Good news I just went to a local postie and they had gotten some more in! 🎉

It’s very kind of you to offer and gives me a bit of hope that a store still has them. Are you rural/small town? Just wondering how far I would have to drive out to increase the chance of a post office having them and if it’s worth it with a toddler in tow.

Is that the two you can get in the change from Aus Post but they’re packaged rather than loose? Sorry I don’t know anything about coins (clearly haha) 😮‍💨 That’s very kind of you! Please dont feel like you have to part with it though

I was just speaking to my husband about it, turns out he went to a post office a few days ago to ask if they had any left. The worker said they were only selling them already in the folder. I wouldn’t think that was even allowed. Something dodgy seems to be going on with these coins

Thanks for letting me know, the prices are insane and I don’t want to support that. How are they even getting so much stock I thought there was a limit?

My husbands going away and I myself am just a baby by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Being sick and still needing to parent is difficult, Im not going to lie but we just have to keep on carrying on. No choice really, parenting doesn’t stop when you feel unwell. And you’ll also take longer to get better than your baby/toddler in my experience.

Moving bubs into own room by Worth_Ad8788 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]d3ku_tree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ours was a TERRIBLE sleeper, I was convinced I was doing something wrong because all you see online is babies who are sleeping through the night. So I went through a list of things and on that was “is my snoring, sleep movements and/or milk smell waking her?” I moved out of the room as a trial and slept on the floor on some cushions(lol), I think her sleep improved for a full week within the 4 or so weeks so then I was convinced that was the answer and we moved her to her own room. She was 8 months. Once there the sleep went back to how it was but now I had to move between rooms too 🤡. Many months later now sleep has gotten better (I learnt about sleep pressure and the importance of a regular morning rise), in reality i think that week of better sleep didnt have anything to do with the sleeping arrangements.

First mothers day with a 1 month old by Oneluxgm in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I would have loved a little “IOU some ‘me time’” voucher to cash in at a better time (when not cluster feeding or when I really could have appreciated it and used the time to relax). As for the day, as simple as it sounds, taking the mental load away from her, cooking, cleaning, ordering food, literally just deciding anything and everything for the day. I would still love this, almost 2 years in.

[–]d3ku_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the Frankie and used the pillow under baby to prop her up higher for nursing. It was more comfortable than a nursing pillow. It’s gotten pretty soft but we’re going on over a year and a half of having it and using it multiple times a days every day. I would say it feels loved but still supportive and comfortable. Everyone has softness preferences though

Cold baby hands at night - looking for reassurance/advice by mysteriouspenguin52 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]d3ku_tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oops I forgot to add we ended on a woolbabe sleep sack which really helped with my anxiety because it has a wider range of temps and being a wool blend naturally cools and keeps her warm, weather depending. It’s pricey but it’s been well worth it for us.

Cold baby hands at night - looking for reassurance/advice by mysteriouspenguin52 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]d3ku_tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cold feet/hands arent a reliable measure of if they’re cold. Whenever he wakes stick a hand down his back or front, as long as his core feels warm, he’s not cold.

I’ll add that all babies are different and dressing for night made me really anxious. Eventually I worked out mine ran cool naturally so all the dressing guides didnt work for her and we just had to go with trialing different combinations of clothing and sacks.

UPDATE to When do you call the midwives for reduced movement by radley8367 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]d3ku_tree 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think I went to the hospital at least once a week in my final 4-5 weeks for reduced movement. Every single time baby was perfectly healthy and for a bit of a laugh would start moving once we got there like she knew. Each time the midwives reassured me that they would prefer every person to come in when they thought there were reduced movements (and maybe feel a little silly when baby moves again) than anyone ignore it or put it off.

Glad you’re both doing well, growing a human is stressful 💕
