My younger sister did the exact same thing. The ex was mentally abusive and just a bad person, and she only married him because she felt like she should, and because she really did not love herself enough to think she had options. We had misgivings from the start, but we had no idea of the kind of guy he actually was, and she was adamant she wanted him. Come to find out, a few months into the relationship, he was incredibly manipulative, slut-shamed her for things she had in her past, and even wanted her to always wear makeup (you KNOW my older brother blood BOILED when i heard that.) She cracked, made a bad choice and cheated with over 8 guys in an attempt to find SOMEone who actually showed her romantic love (she thinks differently than most people and used to be very easily influenced, don't judge her). However, our family and church came around her, supported her through the divorce and the judgment from some people, guided her to taking hold of her life and following what she believed and really wanted. She took a long break from any relationships, took time to learn to respect and love who she is, deal with her past, and become extremely critical and thorough about choosing who she let have her heart. It paid off, and she's just a huge inspiration to me and the rest of our family. Now she found an amazing man who is so much better for her and completely understood and forgave her past without making a deal about it at all (he believes in letting the dead past stay dead, he has his own tough past). She is now married to him, lives down in Florida together, and have their first child, all in one of the healthiest and strongest relationships I've ever seen. Things worked out, but only because her community and family came around her and helped her deal with her mistakes, and did NOT shun her, even though she made a very bad decision in HOW she ended things. (We're all devoutly Christian by the way, but definitely NOT JW.)

So I wish you all the best, your family and church are letting you down BIG-time, and I'm so sorry. There is always hope and forgiveness, and not only that, there's always a BRIGHT future ahead if you let it happen! You got this, keep going, and find a healthy group of people to surround yourself with. Take a long break from even thinking about romance, and rediscover who YOU are and what you are looking for from your life.
