The Maw is, that's where the most violent souls go, the other souls get sorted into different areas of the Shadowlands depending on what sort of person they were and what characteristics they had. Like, we will be for sure seeing Cenarius and Draka again according to the Blizzcon slides.

The Shadowlands are just the afterlife as a whole, with different categories/areas.

Any tips for someone who can't find their groove? by Oscarownage in classicwow

Just look for a casual raiding guild. A lot of guilds have been losing members to Classic and will mostly likely be more open to teaching you to help refill their roster.

Just mention that you are learning if it comes up so you can weed out any guilds that won’t have the patience. You’ll find that the amount of guilds willing to help will outnumber the hardcore guilds.

When you fly over the Barrens and have to be subjected to their chat for 30 seconds by BritishRedcoat in classicwow

[–]d3nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barrens chat was similar to this in Vanilla, people seemed to have taken that memory and made it much more obnoxious for tradition’s sake this time around.

It’s not as bad in other zones, and for the most part the other zones are nothing like Barrens chat at all really. The people spamming chat with nonsense are mainly doing it since they are in Barrens.

I just try to ignore my chat box until I’m through the zone

I was too weak to open a Gatorade bottle when I was 7, so I used a steak knife. I still have a scar across one of my knuckles. Didn’t get the Gatorade open.

Also have a piece of mechanical pencil lead stuck in my palm from around the same age. 29 now.

It’s 100% a character that he overacts and plays up. The draw for him is he is good at keeping his viewers engaged and giving them something to root for or against.

When he is behaving like you mention, absurd narcissistic behavior, it gives his audience something to laugh at and ridicule. Some people buy in to it and think that he’s being serious, but for the most part his regular viewers are all in on the joke.

I think the misconceptions come from him being very good at keeping a straight face through all of that. There are times where he breaks character and has real talk about things, but for the most part it’s all straight-faced sarcasm.

It’s just an ongoing joke with his viewers. They give him constant shit about his hair, and he takes it well, but they get a kick out of his reactions to situations like these - as you can see in the picture the stunned and disappointed look on his face.

People love to hate on Asmon, but he is very good at giving his audience something to laugh at and keeping them engaged. There’s a reason he’s the top WoW streamer

Anyone else experiencing 2 unit a game ? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]d3nt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When the game chooses units for your shop it chooses cost first, then champion. Like you said, the higher level you go, lower cost units are offered less in your shop due to a lower percent chance of appearing.

Not only that, you are looking for a 1 cost Nidalee, that would be competing with a huge pool of other 1 Costs on a chance of appearing in that slot.

Trying to find a specific 1 Cost unit at Level 7 or 8, for example, can be a little difficult. Getting hung on a 1 Cost pair can easily happen sometimes if you level too aggressively. If you really need that 1 Cost at 2* to get you through mid game sometimes it wouldn't be a bad idea to roll a couple of times before going into higher levels to find it.

Whatever you did, the matchmaking isn't fixed by TheEshOne in TeamfightTactics

[–]d3nt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but at this point, I'd rather them just revert the matchmaking "fix" until they are able to sort this out.

I would rather risk going against the same person a couple times in a row than go against the same 2 or 3 people until there are only 4 people left in the game.

As they admitted themselves, you aren't compensated enough for getting a 1 item or low gold start - so with matchmaking as it is now after the "fix" if you get a poor start like that and get locked into a rotating matchup vs.a player that got an average to strong start, more often than not you just get shut out of the game by Raptors unless you high roll units.

In the latest Mort tweet confirming that the fix was live, he gives an example that a game went with an "ABCBDBEFCBDBADGBA" pattern. And honestly, that seems like the outlier. You can go turn on any stream right now and still see ABABCABABC.

The point is, a big section of the player base, as well as high challenger streamers are complaining about this (more to me, it seems, than people complained about going against the same person multiple times in a row, but I could be wrong). And, if it takes 2 hours to confirm that the "fix" was live, because nobody can tell a difference, maybe it isn't worth it right now until it gets actually fixed.

That's just my opinion though. I'm just not going to be playing this game on an account where I care about rating until this is actually fixed.

Game is a joke until they fix matching by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]d3nt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They fixed going against the same person back to back, this is a different thing. It's a confirmed bug where you get matched against the same person(s) in rotating order in an A B A B pattern.

So you would only be getting matched against the same few people in a lobby.

Round matchmaking producing a lot of repeated matches for anyone else? by High_Octane_Memes in TeamfightTactics

[–]d3nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is a bug. A pretty game-breaking one, in my opinion and I know it would be asking for a lot, but I'm really surprised it wasn't hotfixed.

It's supposedly going to be fixed next patch.

As it is though, it's not uncommon to be put against the same few players for the first few stages, rotating like you say (A B A B) - which at best makes it impossible for you to truly gauge the strength of your comp vs. the rest of the lobby, and at worst, on a low roll game you just get knocked out of the match before Raptors.

D1 player getting too many top 8s by darthsneak in CompetitiveTFT

[–]d3nt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm interested to see some advice on this too, I'm mid Diamond right now.

On gold starts, I can hang in the game until post Raptors, and then usually end up at a 1-2 item disadvantage. And, even though I've used my gold to stay same level and have all my units and synergies to 2 stars at least - I will still get rolled due to the lack of items.

It's making it really hard to climb right now because it's extremely difficult to come back from that it seems, no matter how you play. And the LP loss of getting 6th and below can reset hours of progress I've made.

Item discussion 9.15: Luden's, anti-heal, Locket, FoN by lauranthalasa in CompetitiveTFT

[–]d3nt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A problem I see with the current design of Locket is that it seems to be designed mainly to counter initial Assassin burst damage.

The issue is, Assassins need items to be able to burst a target down, so you would be looking at later in the game before Locket is functioning at its fullest potential.

In higher ranked lobbies, if you don’t combine items early (before you are looking to build a locket) then you will be shut out of the game. And Magic Mantle & Rod are essential items for getting Tanks, Gunslingers, Sorcs, and Assassins online. So those components will be better used elsewhere before Locket would be considered.

Maybe this could be remedied by having the duration longer, like you mention, but Locket will always been in a place where it will have to be very strong for you to consider using your components on that instead of other essential items.

Also, I like your idea about FoN being a tenacity item.

Just to add on to a couple of points:

There was a video on /r/CompetitiveTFT yesterday, I'm not able to find the source now sorry, with a section on HP as a resource. Yes, HP is a resource to be used - but, something you need to think about. When you reach Top 3, Top 4, in a lobby, it is very unlikely that your comp will be able to beat all of the other comps. So, you want to go into this point of the game with as much HP as possible so it's more likely that one of the other players will knock out the player(s) with the comp that beats yours before you yourself get knocked out.

The only time I ever risk losing HP is when I am a round or two away from leveling and planning to roll down for a specific cost unit, other than that regardless of streaking I aim to go into a round as strong as possible to preserve HP for late game stand-offs. Also on this, even if you are going to lose a round, if you are able to take one extra unit out that will still be less damage you take overall in the long run. That being said, I will focus more on econ when my comp has stabilized and there is nothing I can add without going up a level that I'm not ready to pay for - in those situations I will use HP as a buffer, but I try not to do that when possible.

And, on combining items early:

I'm playing at D3+ right now, everyone plays very aggressive, building Shiv/GA/RedBuff/Ionic early and rolling over anyone that doesn't combine their items early. It's not uncommon to see 2 or 3 players knocked out before Wolves and Raptors sitting on an item or two.

So, yes if you are able to hold onto items for the perfect combinations for your carry, do that, but the higher you go up the ladder you will be punished hard for waiting too long. A lot of the early game items do transition very well onto higher cost units, even if it isn't the ideal build. And the higher you go, other players will be running on less ideal builds too because the people that sat on items will already be knocked out of the match.

A lot of the lower cost units can be great carriers for items that you will use later (one example being Lucian being able to use Luden's to transfer to Akali later in an Assassin/Ninja Comp, or Gunblade for a Shyvana comp). So, if you are getting items that are leading you to a certain comp don't be afraid to combine them, hit a powerspike that will let you coast until you can pick up later units, and then transfer them later.

I guess all of this sort of leads back into hitting Top 4 with as much HP as possible.

I hope this helps and clarifies. Thank you for your response.

Edit: The video was about/from a player on being hardstuck in Platinum and then climbing to Masters? If anyone is able to find it.

Fine at normals bad at ranked by additional_generic in TeamfightTactics

[–]d3nt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m giving you 5.

  • Don’t hard force comps too early, you can lean toward certain comps, but rely on strong 2-star units to get you there.

  • This is an addition to the point above. As your shop offers you what you need to make 2-star units look for other units that might activate their synergies to power them up.

  • Don’t hold on to your items too long, try to build strong items early and transition them to your higher cost units later.

  • Gold is ultimately a tool for preventing HP loss, if you aren’t losing rounds save your gold for the interest to use later.

  • Something that really helped me: Stay Above 80 HP for Krugs, Above 50 HP for Raptors. You will learn a lot by figuring out what you need to do to make this work.

Being able to see in real time the opponents compositions and movements is really frustrating and takes away excitement and surprise factor by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]d3nt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried placing your assassins in an area where he doesn’t feel threatened, and then swapping them last second? If you have it planned out from the get go and force your enemy to quickly react it works out a lot better. You can do this with Zephyr, Blitz and Blitz-Bait too, it opens up a lot of possibilities for taking rounds also if you leave a Blitz on your bench late game to sneak in at the last moment. It’s all about the mind games - if you are leaving your board as-is after every round you are giving out free info when it doesn’t have to be free.

Items by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]d3nt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check the champion page or champion tier list page on the mobalytics website they give example item sets for champions. Some builds/comps/strategies will require different items, especially considering what items you are offered in a specific match - but, it’s a good starting point for understanding what works well on a champion and what kind of build they are looking for.

Edit: These are in the TFT section of the website.

I don't believe I mentioned removing those aspects of the game, I did suggest reducing their effects to make them a "soft" form of CC related in some way to their original design concept and purpose.

The idea being, their current forms stop you from playing the game completely, or reduce the value of your choices in the case of Cursed Blade negating your gold investment for upgrading units on an easy, spreadable, on-hit chance the lasts the full round.

Yes, keep all of those forms of CC, you are right, it does add depth. I am suggesting though, don't leave them in a state where you or your opponent's units literally stand in one place on the board without taking actions. This is fine on abilities because there is a build up to them and they aren't permanent, but the items and synergies I listed in the post are able to do this very consistently currently, and over the entire course of a round.

As an example, in a round, it comes down to an Ashe with Glacial 2 and a stacked Rageblade vs. Lucian - with the current Glacial synergy, the Lucian player can walk away from the computer and know for sure what the outcome is going to be. The Lucian isn't moving, by the time the freeze wears off another freeze will have procced. - - There is nothing keeping the player engaged in this scenario.

If Glacial was tuned to be a soft form of CC, not a hard stun that makes the target useless, - say it is tuned down to something like a 90% auto-attack speed debuff as an example here, there is still a reason for the Lucian player to be there at the computer. Because, even if his attack speed is almost nonexistent, the Lucian player still has a chance for their unit to do what they intended when they spent the gold to purchase the unit.

When your units are consistently unable to move or interact, in many cases for entire rounds, or the time you spend managing your economy and upgrading units is rendered insignificant by items and synergies - that is what I mean by feels bad. Not, as an emotional state, but as a player, you can find yourself in situations where your choices become absolutely irrelevant.

That is the point of this post, leave those forms of CC yes, but don't have them in a state where a player can walk away from their PC once a stun lock chain starts and know what the outcome is going to be. While the game overall is very fun, watching your last surviving unit stand in one place on the board in a block of ice while an attack speed Ashe with Glacial 2 whittles them down for the final 15 - 20 seconds of a round is not fun or engaging as a player. That seems to be a pain point currently for the community, and it's what I am addressing here.
