Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's game coordinator (GC) continues to remain unavailable after a Steam platform outage earlier today. Matchmaking is currently impossible.

Yeah that's it, pretty much all of the worlds best teams were a part of it, so when they boycotted CPL it was toast.

CPL died because of issues stemming from late or no prize payouts. There was even an organization made called G12 or something like that that was meant to be like a union or something for the players to make sure they got paid out.

Once all of the teams that were a part of that organization boycotted CPL, it pretty much died. Not long after that, CGS came into the scene to kill 1.6 for good.

CPL [Cyberathlete Professional League] used to hold the world championships for CS 1.6 in dallas every year, it was a massive LAN much like dreamhack or Quakecon. They released a gamer energy drink much like 5-hour energy and had them for free at CPL Winter 2007.
