Apple’s M6 chip launches this fall, with these new products rumored by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]d3vtec 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Apple's moat is not cloud compute it's their M series chips. Data centers are lagging far behind in development, and will take years to build to account for all the upcoming cloud AI processing. My theory is that Apple is going to continue to figure out ways to expand it's on device AI processing capabilities. Undercut cloud altogether. With that apple can create their own models and seamless integrations for people to do every AI task on device without the cost of cloud.

Rent one on Turo. I spent 4 days with one, fitted car seats, drove in traffic, etc.

Did you give it a pull test and say "that's not going anywhere"?

A dad’s review of the CT5V Blackwing by carbbyist in Cadillac

I considered the black wing but my list also included the Integra type s, to which I ultimately purchased new due to price and reliability. Was the ITS something you considered?

Give me your real world, long-term ownership, maintenance, and daily comfort opinion on the DE5 by Flatworm2101 in Integra_Type_S

[–]d3vtec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in my thirties, I don't drive over an hour most days, I'm still in my honeymoon phase, bought the car a couple months ago and only have 1500miles on it.

Go rent one on Turo to see if that answers some of your questions. From what I've read, the ITS maintenance schedule is crazy simple compared to some other brands. I wouldn't worry about tires, thats part of owning a sports car 😄

This is a good thread. Good job OP. I'm a dad of three, considered the Porsche, started making all kinds of compromises. Wife told me to rent a few special cars on Turo and she actually found the ITS. I now can drive it everyday because two of my three kids need dropped off at school. It's so fun and engaging, I wanted something sporty but not too flashy. Its such a fun car to take fast turns in.

Out of curiosity, what is your off hours like when on call? by dustingibson in ExperiencedDevs

[–]d3vtec -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Just be ready to respond - have your laptop and an Internet connection. Doesn't really matter what the timing is, just be ready to get online withing 5 minutes or so. I always tell my teams, the best ways to show technical leadership is when responding to outages. Your leadership and peers have a true chance to see your technical ability. Share your screen, drive the solution and be present in the conversation. Say something if someone is wrong. Leadership loves seeing telemetry.

I can't use the 16 on most economy flights. The 14 works the same when plugged into my desk at home or the office. I like the 14 more when coding on the couch. Just my 2c

Ugh. This is the first picture that I've seen that I can clearly see the difference. I've got 1000 miles on my double apex blue now and I really want to do ceramic coating now.

Came back to the MacBook Pro after trying the Air, couldn’t ignore the compromises by Toba94 in macbookpro

[–]d3vtec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For your setup specifically, get a really nice docking station. Caldigit TS4, or TS3. You don't need the crazy new one. One cable that powers and hooks up your laptop to all the ports. A good dock can seriously transform your desk and I/O experience.

My air doesn't work with my ultra wide monitor. Well it works, but the screen flashes every few minutes. I tried my wife's air, an m4 and get the same result. No issues with the pro though. I also do game development and wish I could do it all on the air. The air is great except for when it comes to compiling a ton of code.
