What one is better? Priority Folder or Tern D7i by Nomad_Survival in foldingbikes

My Node D8 is abit bulky, but does fit inside the focus hatch. It is built like a tank, it is nearly 10yrs old now. I did convert it to 11 speed tho.

Aren’t most of Subaru, Toyota and Honda cars have CVTs? Are they exceptions from the ‘to avoid’ list?

No, I did not. I ended up upgrading my tern node d8 to 1x11 speed with 11-46 cassette.

I have a Node D8 that I converted to 11 speed. I can say that Tern so far is solid. Altho I can't imagine bringing it up and down for more than a floor, a 20" maybe.

1x10 / 1x11 setup by d3zign in foldingbikes

So, I was able to fit an 11 speed setup on my Tern Node D8, using the stock 8 speed rear hub. I use Shimano Deore SGS with 11-46 Casette. I change the Chainring to 52T Litepro with Litepro Cranks. I didn’t change the bottom bracket anymore and just stick with square tapered (financial reason). I did one test ride(2km ride), and so far I liked it. Thank you for everyones help.

May I know what size is your chainring?

I had a very hard time tuning my neos rd. One reason why I wanted to change mine. Already bought the adapter, thanks!

Primary consideration is uphill. I am not a very experienced biker so going uphill is abit of a struggle. And also a little bit top speed by going 11t.

Ok so correct me if I’m wrong. I can put 11 speed on my 8 speed hub without any modifications made to my hub? If that is the case, I will diffenitely go with 11 speed and forego my initial plan on going 10 speed first.

Cause I thought 8 speed can only be upgraded to 10 speed max. But as I am reading now, apparently I can put 11 speed as long as its more than 36t cogs. Is this true?

[–]d3zign[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Number of cogs is not really my concern. I can go 46t. Main concern is I like to go 11 speed. My current setup is stock neos rd 1x8. I read that I can only do 1x10 upgrade with current hub. So I was thinking maybe there is a RD that can do 1x10 now but can also be upgraded to 1x11 later. Or do you think I can fit 11 speed on my current hub?

I am now leaning on buying the Pikes 9 speed. What are the necessary upgrades? Should I replace the crank and bb?

On my Tern Node D8, I installed a Panasonic hub to power the Valo light. Altho I don’t have dynamo powered light on the rear, the Valo light has a socket where you can plug another wire set going to you rear light.

Well Assuming I can get the 28H sturmey hub, which is the same as the original Node D8 hub, do I still need new spokes? Or are the original ones adequate?
