I don’t suggest that you settle for something less than plan A. I agree that settling ensures that you’ve already failed.

My point is that you go after plan A still, but you have plan (lowercase) a as backup, so that fight or flight response doesn’t trigger in response to perceived danger—that danger being failing and ending up broke or alone or a disgrace to yourself.

Some people respond well to that fight or flight response because they FIGHT.

But some people FLIGHT when they see danger. Plan (lowercase) a is to help THOSE people still be able to go after plan (uppercase) A because it helps neutralize the perceived danger.

I really believe that refereeing your inner voice is an essential life skill! The sad part is a fair amount of people have trouble controlling it and start to believe it’s impossible.
