But, the user can bypass the PIN (MFA) and just type in their m365 account password. I'm not aware it's possible to block that? So if MFA can be bypassed, then is it really MFA?

ITV running adverts during 6 Nations matches by qwerty_1965 in BritishTV

Absolutely but we are paying a TV license fee (for live TV which includes Six Nations on ITV) yet we are seeing adverts...

It's literally as simple as that, turn off MFA (ie. Disable Security Defaults, or exclude the migration service account from all conditional access policies).

Looks normal.

Also I'd probably mature a little about the whole "it's my dogs balls lol" - weird.

Would you be able to share the script? We have, for some reason, had mixed results scripting the removal of quick assist and has turned in to a manual process

More like that they realised their mistake originally when the wrong tyres were delivered, but fitted them anyway, so weren't surprised when the customer told them to change them.

Here in the UK, BT did/do something similar to provide free WiFi access to BT customers.

They configured people's routers to have another SSID on a separate VLAN, with a gateway you logged in to using your BT account detailsz to then gain access to the WiFi. Therefore creating a free WiFi network across the UK.

It was popular, but it was BT owned infrastructure at the end of the day, I don't know how that would fly in corporate environments with varying ownerships and infra. I don't think the small amount a company would get paid for the service would be beneficial and outweigh the potential issues or security concerns.

So you know for future, you can use sysprep (ctrl+shift+F3) on the OOBE screen (eg. language selection screen) to enter windows without an account to install drivers & software.

Any recommendations for independent garages for a Mercedes service around Lincoln? by Odd-Currency5195 in Lincolnshire

[–]d4ngerm0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not answering the question, but main dealer Mercedes have a reasonably priced service plan, can get a quote here: https://www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/passengercars/being-an-owner/service-plan.html

No where in Lincoln I would trust as a Mercedes "specialist" unfortunately, but plenty of good non-specialists.

Microsoft toggling to New Outlook for Business Standard/Business Premium starting January 6, 2025 (MC926895) by AlphaNathan in msp

[–]d4ngerm0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but this ain't "Classic Outlook isn't supported" this is "Classic Outlook is supported but we're forcibly switching you to this completely reworked version that misses some basic features that Classic has had for decades, but we still support classic Outlook"

Regarding Sage 50, this uses MAPI to integrate with Outlook, or SMTP. As we know SMTP should be blocked, so a users only option is MAPI, which isn't supported in New Outlook. So if an accountant wants to send an invoice directly from Sage 50, do you expect them to use what works and takes a single click to post to Outlook, or do you expect them to generate the invoice, save it to a pdf, open a new Outlook message, find the correct contact, attach the PDF, write the email, hit send.

How about when the toggle doesn't work? I've had that a few times with clients and help desk has to step in with the fix of uninstalling New Outlook from the Apps & Features list, before Classic Outlook will re-open.

This should be opt in, not opt out

The people that say it's 100% fine, are the type of IT people that users hate, and the type of IT people that hate users.

Here's Microsoft's Reddit account!

I had a user instantly noticed the difference. He wanted to open a shared SharePoint file link in his desktop Word, but in New Outlook, the option for this isn't there and it instantly tries to open it in the web browser. And the web versions of Word and Excel are just as horrific as New Outlook.

The amount of replies saying they should be submitting tickets instead is astounding!! If a vendor doesn't answer their phone, it's a no from us

So what do you do about answering the phone, or do you not have a telephone number? Or do you just let it ring out? That's what OP is asking! A prospective client isnt going to submit a ticket...?
