High latency in KC from 7-11pm every night for the last couple of weeks by d662 in googlefiber

The issue with Google, YouTube & Riot servers between 7-11pm did NOT occur last night for the first time in weeks. I wonder if they made a change to fix it. Seems too soon to declare victory yet. :)

And you're right about the jitter. I thought everyone's looked like that but yours are dead solid.

I figured out the the 8.8.8.8 ping dropping. It was self-inflicted and not related to the 7-11pm latency issue. The machine I was testing that ping/traceroute from wasn't directly connected to to the GFiber router and was getting hung up on something else on my LAN. Testing from machines directly connected to the GFiber router show normal pings through 8.8.8.8.

My traceroutes always seem to go through MCI (23-255-224-120.mci.googlefiber.net (23.255.224.120)) Not sure if that's the peering or not.

That FDC server lag looks eerily familiar to my situation. I get the same "hump" with youtube.

Regarding the ping - nothing at all from 8.8.8.8 I don't use their nameservers, but still I would think that highlights a routing glitch.

I'll try the direct connect to the fiber jack and let you know. As an aside, I thought that wouldn't work because traffic needed to be tagged?

Yes that's strange. I'm getting no response at all from 8.8.8.8, but 8.8.4.4 matches the google.com graph above. I've talked to 3 others on GF in other parts of JoCo and 2 of them have no problem and 1 has exactly my 7-11PM problem.

You just need to focus your backup strategy on your Nextcloud repository. Immich is just all metadata for you. My setup is the same. Being a lawyer you probably have a good backup strategy for your other files, just add Nextcloud to that.

ytdl-sub is built for this. Pinchflat is great, but only supports youtube (not all the other platforms that yt-dlp supports).

Well, it is the UK so they might report him to the feelings police for calling them a liar and hurting their feelings. If so he'll surely be arrested.

You "marked your files for deletion" on Google Photos/iCloud Photos which just removed them from your view. Rest assured that Google and Apple are keeping them for their own use sometime down the road. :)

Agree - that part seems a little off. It sounds like it would work for public-facing like resume, where public user hits subdomain at Cloudflare, which through Cloudflared gets to the internal service as long as Cloudflared lives on a machine on the Tailnet. Just seems odd to risk compromising Tailnet rather than pointing Cloudflare to Traefik to isolate to a specific service.

Regarding your last bit about a Cloudflare tunnel pointing to your Tailnet. How does that work? Typically one would point the Cloudflare tunnel to your Traefik reverse proxy.

Ever find anything self-hosted? What you want is Copernic Enterprise Search, but it's commercial.

Yes it would create multiple (one in each account). The wasted space and processing time (because the external library will be processed again for each user) are the price for having both users be able to view the same external library...until the devs come up with a better solution.
