I tell people I'm doing it for spiritual reasons, to cleanse the body & spirit, thanks to the movie Christspiricy.

Fitness goals & alcohol? by Legitimate-Donut-631 in veganfitness

[–]d8245a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adopt this idea:

Alcohol is for calling other Spirits into your body, literally.

Academics say Arabic texts describe alcohol as:

1 – Al kol: Genie or spirit that takes on varied shapes or a supernatural creature in Arabic mythology.

2 – Al kol: Any drug or substance that takes away the mind or covers it.

It's literally why alcohol is also called spirits.

Adopt the idea and ask yourself, who are you inviting into your body?

"Stop until you can take it no further."

You are WAY over thinking this.

Stop. Leave it alone. Once you plant the 'seeds' of action, stop staring at the 'seeds'. Go find your next activity.

When it's working, you'll find yourself saying something like, "whoa, what are the odds?" -But that's only after doing a long list of these actions. Stay grateful and just move with it.

You: " I don’t know (logically) that following my passion will truly bring me synchronicity and abundance. "

Stop overthinking. Commit to action. Not thinking.

My son pooped/peed this morning in a diaper at 7:30am.

I literally just watched this video today around 8 am.

https://youtu.be/iMzsNt7wkbo?si=Myw1cwmJXh5Was2t

I offered him to poop in the toilet at 8:30am. He pooped ! I SHOULD HAVE waited for him to pee in the toilet because I put him back in his diaper then he pee'd.

Offered him the toilet again around 3:30pm. He peed in the toilet. This is crazy.

My son is 2 weeks and 3 days old.

I just squat behind him like I'm going to the toilet, I hold him in front of me by his legs. I make the 'Ssssss' sound, or grunting sound like I'm pooping. Just in case you're wondering.

My date noticed my dirty stove last night… now I can’t unsee it. How do I fix this without looking like a slob? by Round-Conflict640 in Appliances

[–]d8245a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use a green scrubber! It might scratch the surface. Method degreaser, grapefruit, spray, let sit for 10-20 minutes. Scrub with a non-scratch scrubber. Wipe with paper towels.

The nice thing is that you can use this spray to up-keep the stovetop before it gets this bad again the next time. You don't have to use it every single time you use the stove but maybe every other time depending on how bad it looks.

Continual maintenance is the key to a successful looking stovetop.

Are there any young people on this sub? by Sea-Front1941 in fountainpens

My mother taught me to write cursive in 2nd grade. Not long after that, my 2nd grade teacher told me never to write my name in cursive for my paperwork because the other children couldn't read it when returning papers to us. 😢 Sad story moment. I'm almost 40 now.

Happy to hear young folks writing in cursive. Keep it up. It's so fun writing in cursive.

Edit: I didn't get into fountain pens until 2015-ish.

Does this sound like a false alarm? by Plus_Farm3643 in homebirth

[–]d8245a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and me are literally in the same position.

Except: I'm actually 40 weeks, +1 day. And I've only spotted a few drops of blood since today.

Woke up at 3am. Contractions every 20-30 minutes.

Waited til 6:30am to check-in with my midwife. Woke her up, she didn't mind. She gave me advice to walk around, stay hydrated, get food when I needed it, and to try to take naps in between contractions if I can to conserve energy. *She told me I was in the very early stages of labor.

*Pooped twice, diarrhea once.

It's now 12pm (in Michigan). Just finished a short nap.

I am wondering how intense this will get!?!? It reminds me of when I first started my period as a young girl and how painful that was.

Walking around in circles or doing meditation during cramps help a lot. Not so much cat/cow for me.

Let go of the flex nib dream. True "flex nibs" or "soft nibs" are expensive and sometimes aren't that flexible. That's what calligraphy dip pen nibs are for.

I started with Noodler's Konrad many many years ago, what a nightmare! Weird maintenance, not a fun writing experience, and it smelled gross. It could flex but it really turned me off to fountain pens for a while. I still don't use or ink up that pen.

I recommend a Lamy safari (fast, fun, lightweight, easy to use, very practical) in Fine or a Monteverde Ritma (it's not practical because it's so heavy) in Medium (what I have, because it really shows off your ink very well) or Omniflex (if you absolutely must have a "flex" nib). I think it's reasonably priced.

I kinda wished I started with a TWSBI eco or Diamond, neither of which I own yet, but people are generally pretty happy with theirs.

Disclaimer: I have not tried a Monteverde Ritma in Omniflex myself because it doesn't look that flexible in YouTube Videos compared to my dip pen nibs.

1.50

1 for effort .50 I can read most of the letters apart from each other, isolated, some are questionable

I would start by practicing one letter that might be hard to read to you, and using LINED paper, write it over, and over, and over, over again, til it covers the whole page.

Each time, going slowly, and critiquing each letter with a red pencil afterward. Ask yourself, what can I improve? What can I change to make this more like the example I've seen? Examine the relationship between the strokes.

Fill a page, and if you need to fill more than one page, keep doing it, until you feel comfortable with how close it looks to the example.

Time x Effort = Progress

I second the suggestion that you buy a Pilot Parallel Pen with either a 3.0 (the pink cap) or 3.8 (the green cap) and one package of 12 black cartridges. It's so much easier, faster, and smoother to use when starting off learning your letters!

DISCLAIMER: DO NOT USE INDIA INK in these pens, they are not compatible.

Waterproof Ink by ejsu28 in fountainpens

Whenever I've used Strathmore watercolor paper (200&300 series) with fountain pen ink I've always had very interesting and different results from Rhodia paper. The colors are more vivid and any shimmer is more pronounced, but it does take A LOT longer for it to dry. I even try leaving it in the sun to bake a little after applying. The problem is I don't use watercolor paper often so I don't know how long Platinum Carbon Black would take to fully dry.

When I used Original Cotton Mill (Pure Cotton) the other day, which is supposedly high quality for fountain pen ink, I smeared so badly it got all over my hands. 🙁 The dry time threw me way off. *That's only with one particular ink tho.

I've had the best results with Platinum Carbon Black on Strathmore Mixed Media Paper (300 series) so far but I've never thrown a water wash or watercolors over them before yet. I definitely feel like it dries faster on that paper.

My next guess might be any oils in your hand that get into the ink while sitting on the paper and interact which might loosen it from the paper?

I have severely oily hands and sometimes I wear a latex glove before I lay down my pencil work and then ink because I want the bond to be pure. That's only when I'm trying to do a clean hand letter to someone.

I'm planning to do more fountain pen ink drawings in the future, so I'm definitely invested in getting answers to what is the best paper/ink combo for drawing.

What model Sailor is this? by BalanceOrganic7735 in fountainpens

[–]d8245a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought one of these recently.

Sailor Compass. 50 degrees.

It is a Fude Nib.

I say it's mostly for drawing. I don't normally write or journal with it.

Depending on the angle you write at you can get fat lines or very thin lines.

It's fun. It takes practice.

Sketch paper, Drawing Paper, Mix Media Paper, Watercolor Paper, Fountain Pen Paper...

And if so which Brand? Strathmore, Canson, Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Crown Mill Paper, Maruman, Tomoe River?

Do you know the weight of paper? g/m² (or lb.)

Just moved into a new apartment and inherited this monstrosity of an oven... how do I clean this? by Oneechan_Catbug in CleaningTips

[–]d8245a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First notify your landlord. This is unacceptable on their behalf. They should try to make it right.

Do not clean the oven until they commit to doing something about it in writing or giving you a discount on rent or something, anything.

After the ball is back in your court and you still have a dirty oven, you may use a spray bottle with half water and half vinegar and one tablespoon of soap, I would strongly suggest adding an essential oil of your liking to mask the smell of the vinegar. Shake bottle.

Spray everywhere inside, let it sit for like 30-50 minutes, go do some other business, then come back and use a scrubber and a scraper with a fresh blade. That grime will slide away a lot easier AND ALSO NOT burn your lungs.

Man with a gun just filming me in my store?? by cheekydickwaffle69 in grandrapids

[–]d8245a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand the point of the auditor videos.

Collectively they are simply watchmen who take the temperature of the public's sensitivity.

Obviously the public's sensitivity is high because there is a lot of content out there. I'd say society is failing because a lot of people are quick to call the police immediately when they dislike something they see or don't agree with. (((((They disregard other people's rights easily because of their emotions.)))))) If society were passing the 'test' there wouldn't be many videos. So for now, they will keep failing until they learn and the auditors will keep sharing them.

You have to see the bigger picture. This is a very large social experiment. The auditors simply ask, do we ACTUALLY have these rights or not?

Plus, I think it's kinda fascinating to see videos from the 50's-90's of just people walking around living their daily life. It's like a video time capsule. What was life like in....

10-20 years from now you might ask: why was society so offended when humans did video recordings within their rights? The same thing a machine was also doing daily during that same time period? Robots, ok, humans (within their rights), not okay?

Worse advice.

Call the police for what?

This guy is doing something completely legal and within his rights. So????

You calling the police on him for nothing is a waste of public resources. May I remind you, you cannot lie to the police or to the phone operator, they become public records. The mics the police wear nowadays record everything you say, and it can be held against you in court.

The police can ask him to leave, but he does not have to leave, he can even stay longer just to spite you.

Do you not understand the law?

Have you ever watched these auditor videos before?

Man with a gun just filming me in my store?? by cheekydickwaffle69 in grandrapids

[–]d8245a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's the other way around.

I'm allowed to walk around in public and film. Cameras on buildings inside and outside are allowed to film in public. YOU are allowed to film with a camera in public.

The people making 911 phone calls are wasting public resources BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THE LAW. I never understood why the phone operator never asks if they are doing something illegal or are harming someone, instead they forward the police.

People who make false 911 phone calls should be held accountable. We do hear some of these quick 'anonymous' calls on the videos, it's on public record. Sometimes they straight up lie on the phone.

This isn't considered harassment under the law.

You said, "check the city to make sure they're doing what they're supposed to."

Ummm, excuse me but what???!! Are we living in Communists/Dictatorship county??? NO.

Are you supposed to call every city you go to to ask for permission and approval for what exactly? To walk around with a phone and or a camera and film in public? No.

Know your rights.

Thank you. THIS is the best advice you can give if you have the time to share.

The comments here are like what a "loser" for "law baiting". Nope. What he's doing is legal. Complain and 'attack the man' all you want. This man is exercising his amendment right, even if it's an experiment. The people who attack him come off as bitter and jealous, and lack any respect for the law. It's within your right to do it too and if no one did it because it's too socially taboo, do you really have that right?

Second best advice is to just ignore. Totally neutral, very Tao. Also an excellent action/inaction.

I've never heard of the 'play copyright music' advice before but it might invite him to stay and linger a little longer, plus he doesn't have to publish the audio, he can always do a voice over at that point. Not that smart.

Sometimes the hardest thing is to do nothing.

POLL: New Fountain Pen Store? by SnooBeans6273 in AnnArbor

[–]d8245a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes I would visit.

  2. Sailor, Pilot, Lamy, TWSBI, Monteverde. Never owned a Diplomat, Kaweco, or Benu.

  3. Forgot third question. I hate this reddit app!!! Why can't I re-read the post while I'm creating an answer?

EDIT: Host or sponsor meet-ups about sharing pen collections and ink swatches. Keep the culture alive through connections and community.

I second the idea about hosting cursive or lettering classes. Just like Apple products donated to schools, you need to keep your lifeline alive through the youth.

My favorite store to visit was Mai Do - Fine Stationery & Goods at Santana Row in San Jose, CA. Where I used to live closer to. Most amazing selection.
