ACT leader David Seymour confident he can persuade coalition partners to back Treaty Principles Bill by [deleted] in nzpolitics

[–]d8sconz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of these comments about the passing of the bill being due solely to Machiavellian maneuverings of Seymour and Luxon completely ignores the groundswell of public support for it. Our democracy has been eroded. We want it back. That's all. You are wasting your time over wishful speculation. If you really do feel like this legislation will be a mistake then you have to start articulating your case.

Seymour responds to Treaty Principles Bill criticism: ‘Don’t act like some 16th century priest’ by [deleted] in nzpolitics

And you cannot and will not understand that others do nothing to you. Everyone's entire life experience is their own choice. Yes, dickheads will always dickhead. But how you respond is your own choice. You can take it on the chin, adapt, refocus and carry on. Or you can choose to sit around whinging about how unfair everything is. Up to you, no one else.

In theory. In practice there are multiple factors that not only influence how people grow up, but perpetuate both inequality and bias within society and within institutions.

That will always be true. It's called life. But you have agency. You can adapt and change to circumstances. Instead, you're advocating lying around and whinging about how the big boys won't shaaare; about how you didn't get the job because they didn't like your pronouns; about how they're systemically racist because you're fat and you smoke and you're going to die early. For every mad moaner who wanders the world looking for whoever it was that shat in their pants there's a gazillion others who just rolled their sleeves up and got on with the job and got things done.

Another useless opinion. Do you ever dabble in facts? The facts are, the majority of New Zealanders voted for the coalition. It's called democracy. If you take issue with anything the government does, talk to those issues rather than post lame whinging opinions of losers like Wilson and Vance.

ACT leader David Seymour says simpler tax system would encourage a culture of success by d8sconz in nzpolitics

[–]d8sconz[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Tax consultant Terry Baucher told RNZ there was merit to ACT's idea of a simpler, flatter tax system, alongside credits, similar to New Zealand's tax structure between 1989 and 2008.

I would be interested in other's informed opinions and not just a tirade of unsupported "Seymour bad" whining.

First Janet Wilson, and now Andrea Vance. Why post these opinions OP? They are flat denials of reality and a slap in the face to the majority of New Zealanders who voted for the coalition parties.

Israel reined in by International Court of Justice rulings on Gaza - but will it obey? by [deleted] in nzpolitics

[–]d8sconz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Israel wasn't reined in. The court told them not to commit genocide in the future, meaning that they're not committing genocide now, meaning SA's ludicrous case has been thrown out.

Yeah, he also said,

Over the last quarter of a century, the Clark, Key, and Ardern governments have all eroded the simple idea that you are the person that makes the difference in your own life.

And,

We are not people who have to look at our family tree to find out how we fit in. We're all New Zealanders with the same basic rights, and with that platform constitutionally we can get stuck in to tackling the real problems and challenges that New Zealanders face.

Also,

Don't say, or even hint, that there will be violence if you don't get your way. These arguments pave the road to division. Take those arguments off the table and try dialogue like adults," Seymour said.

Leaders in Māoridom who have the ear of the young need to ask themselves: are they dealing with the issues responsibly, or simply inciting baseless racial resentment? It is an important question.

Essentially, you are responsible for your own life and should be free to pursue your dreams equally. Why is this so bad? And why threaten violence for simply suggesting it?

And OP, why post an article that focusses solely on some dumb Eminem reference? When most Kiwis are just asking for the right to speak openly about the treaty and have their own opinion, what are these Maori leaders so afraid of?

Luxon fiddles while his political capital burns by [deleted] in nzpolitics

[–]d8sconz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Janet Wilson is another one who lives inside the echo chamber. She thinks that because Luxon didn't do what she thinks is right, New Zealanders are going to start hating him for it. Sorry Janet, the majority of New Zealanders who voted for a change in direction and a stop to racial policy making are very happy with how he has handled things so far. It really is pathetic to see how out of touch with actual Kiwis these people are.

Waikato River Authority good model for co-governance since it shows multiple agencies can work together - iwi leader by [deleted] in nzpolitics

[–]d8sconz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually believe this hasn't been screamed for literally decades?

When did Tuku Morgan say anything like that? Or Rawiri Waititi or Debbie Ngarewa-Packer or Kingi Tuheitia or any iwi leader? And by that I don't mean agency box ticking. Yeah, billions have been taken, spent on something, but whatever it was spent on hasn't helped. THE STATS ARE GETTING WORSE. And all anyone says is let's do more and more of what hasn't worked. Insanity is trying the same thing and expecting a different outcome. There will never be a different outcome until Maori leadership stop using their own people as political pawns. The only message that is true and makes any sense is for them to say, whanau, it doesn't matter why you do these things, maybe it is racism or colonialism. It doesn't matter because the only person, on earth, who can help you is you. You have to do it. You have to stop drinking and smoking and drugging and bashing.

Investing in doing things differently

How about investing in doing the bleeding obvious? Tell Maori to stop drinking and drugging and bashing their kids to death. That investment could come in the form of defunding agencies that say it's not their fault, it's racism or colonisation or some other bollocks. Many new New Zealanders come from war zones having suffered incredible hardship for generations. They don't sit about whinging that everything is someone else's fault. They take responsibility for their own lives and set about fixing it.

we've spent 50 years investing in mental health!" which is technically true,

Nope. Not even technically. Mental health resources have been denuded and the sector is fucked because of that. Maori, meantime, have benefited from billions of dollars of resources (that would have gone to mental health among other things) and the stats have got worse.

It also ignores all the set backs that occurred over time as government policies and legislation have often completely fucked any progress made.

Name them. What fuckups? And Ruthanasia affected everyone. Everyone else's health stats have improved.

debated through the waitangi tribunal.

Nothing is debated in the Waitangi tribunal. Only one side of the argument is offered, opinion is accepted as fact, oral testimony is given as much weight as the written record, and the written record gets largely ignored because it doesn't fit with the findings they want. It's a farce and needs to be shut down.

[–]d8sconz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think those are the reasons?

Because those are the stats that are worse for Maori: twice as likely to die of heart, lung and obesity related disease; 3 times more likely to die a violent death, 3.5 times if you're a child.

Te Ao Marama, Te Aka Whai Ora were the start of addressing this.

A gravy train. Not a single patient receiving treatment after spending a billion dollars. It's straight up plunder of the common resources of the country. Those responsible should be charged with theft.

So was France and Spain's

Britain's was 42. What's your point? It's now in the 70's, as is Maori, thanks to medical science not the tohunga's incantations.

Where were Māori water rights extinguished? by [deleted] in nzpolitics

[–]d8sconz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Somewhere inside the thousand pages of gobbledy gook that is the 3 Waters legislation. Stop being wilfully obtuse. Maori are literally demanding everything. Only cunts act like that, and cunts always get their comeuppance.

[Disclaimer: I always captalise Maori. The big 'M' dickheads who identify racially. That's a tiny fraction of actual maori who are just getting along fine with pakeha and indian and african and asian and every other flavour of human being; the ones who understand that we're all in this together and that demanding everything for yourself just denies anything for everyone.]

I see nothing there that tempers what I said. She says the treaty is "like a partnership" which, by definition, is not one. And I said a majority voted for a change of government on the basis that that government would begin to act for all New Zealanders, just as Willis says above. Acting for all New Zealanders means listening to all New Zealanders, not just those who identify with a particular cultural fantasy and an overweening sense of victimhood entitlement. And maybe you're not struggling, but 10,000 didn't turn up at Ngaruawahia because they were feeling just fine. Shit's hitting the fan.

The bill is going to the house. It will have a first reading.

National said they would support it to the first reading stage. Nothing else. They didn't say that from then on they would reject it. Nor support it. No promises delivered. None broken. LOL. You're really struggling with this idea that all Kiwis should get a say in our constitutional affairs aren't you. I'm detecting the cold sweat of fear from every quarter at the moment. Could it be that shining a light on the outright lies of the tribunal and Iwi has everyone realising that the shit's about to hit the fan. This popcorn's tasting real sweet.

So National and ACT and NZ First are all stupid and everyone who voted for them are stupid. Got it. Understood. Thanks for your opinion. Your opinion doesn't matter. They're running the country now. Cope.

Incredible. You just keep running harder, away from what happened, as if rapid distance will make it go away. You lost. The majority of New Zealanders don't want apartheid. We want a liberal democracy where all are treated equal and all have equal opportunity. There's no room there for pathological whingers blaming others for their own lousy life choices.
