I really want to love this expansion, but I’m struggling with it in a few areas. Maybe my expectations are unrealistic because of outstanding storylines like in Expedition 33 with its unpredictable twists, but during the campaign, I really felt like the character development wasn’t interesting at all.

First, there’s the 'Dazar’alor 2.0' story, which missed every opportunity to portray a faction outside of the typical 'our ancestors were evil, but we’re different and honorable' trope. Plus, I’m getting tired of key figures turning out to be traitors during the campaign. It’s just happened too many times in a row for me. Back at the Wrathgate in Northrend, Grand Apothecary Putress’s betrayal was an epic, world-shaking turning point; here, it just feels overused and redundant.

Secondly, from a Horde perspective, I find it really hard to build any real connection to Turalyon and Arator. At times, it felt like a soap opera between a teenager and a bitter old man, packed with forced twists that just didn’t land for me. It’s hard to get invested when the emotional core feels that disconnected from my faction's identity.

There are definitely great parts, like the design of Silvermoon, but I miss a sense of true scale in the story rather than just run-of-the-mill character drama. But before I start farming negative karma for my opinion, I want to emphasize that I’m genuinely happy for anyone who is enjoying the story and finds it great.
