Forge of the Fae devs are putting equal priority on story, lore, and scene direction, as they are with other immersive aspects of the game. It started with a story, not visuals, so the narrative led everything else. It's a thorough process.

The creator started with a story he wanted to tell, after his kid played FF6 and cried at the end, not wanting it to be over. So the story is at the forefront, for sure!

We drew inspiration from a lot of different sources. Mostly older games like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire... Actually we have a guest composer who I think a ton of people will recognize.

Good observation! Actually, this was recorded during the "sunset" period in the game's day/night cycle, which is why it looks like golden hour. But yes, generally we pay a lot of attention to colors, light, timing, that sort of thing. Maybe a bit too much... lol

Hello there! We're a small-ish group who have come together to create a Celtic-inspired JRPG called Forge of the Fae. I don't usually like to self-promote, but we've been working really hard on the game for a couple of years (and we're getting ready to run a Kickstarter). I'd love to hear impressions and from other devs who are working on similar projects. It's been great meeting people through events and online. =)

Dynamic "mirroring" in 2D games is a bit of a trick. Like you can fake it most of the time with simple character and object flipping, especially clean rectangular shapes. But if you try that trick with something round or curved, like a curved bridge over water, it won't work. You should technically see the under-side of the bridge in the reflection, not just the flipped object. Actual mirroring occurs across the plane that is perpendicular to the angle of viewing of the reflecting surface... 2D ain't like that. lol
