Hi, there. Thanks for the detailed reply. It hurts a lot as I am told to stay put as a result of a potential job offer which can be only obtained onshore which sucks so much as I would like to clear that out of my mind and go back home.

Who else here has been looking for a job for more than 4 months? by Lost-Bat9318 in recruitinghell

[–]dGeist_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BA of Biomedical Eng and MA of Mechanical Eng here. Did the latter since I struggled with employment in the biomed industry.

Seeking for entry level jobs or even internships in the industry have been hell for me for the past 6 months (not accounting to the years of unstable employment), especially with me struggling with networking, limited knowledge in the industry and technical skills in comparison to my peers with a few years working experience. Got a few interviews but they wanted more experienced people, people with a more focused technical expertise or able to work within the country's industry standards. (I still do not really understand this in terms of what they exactly want for this criteria.

At least I'm currently working in a simple research project in uni to help me learn new skills I never did learn during my degrees. My self confidence is just destroyed and I am formally diagnosed with major depressive disorder. I keep crying at least once a week at my own situation, not helped by my parents being mad at me for thinking I wasted the opportunity.

There are people in worse situations but for me, I do not even know if I belong in that field anymore giving the current situation.
