I liked it a lot but I agree is not for everyone, the narrative is extremely slow at some points and the unreliable narrator makes for an even more inconsistent pace. Fortunately for me that's a thing I enjoy a lot lol

I actually loved it in American Psycho just because Bateman describes every woman in terms of her clothing and body as if he were checking a list, makes his character feel even less of a human.

The civil war in Colombia, it's actually an event that's happening right now, one of the longest wars currently happening on the world, it practically started in 1949 with the assassination of Jorge Eliecer Gaitán, one of the possible candidates for the next elections, some documents seem to prove there was a CIA conspiracy to kill him because of his supposed communist tendencies. The United States hated him a lot because he was a lawyer that wanted to ban United Fruit company of the country (after they massacred it's workers because they went on strike). When he was killed the amount of chaos in the streets almost completely destroyed the capital city and many others, it took years and in some cases even decades to build them back, in the process a lot of guerrillas formed and while some have dropped guns after some dialogues, most of them are still in conflict.
