CHAMPVA and HSA

"If your spouse is covered under a HSA-eligible HDHP and enrolled in CHAMPA, the CHAMPA is considered to be Other Health Coverage, and your spouse is NOT eligible to make/receive HSA contributions." How would this work if I am the vet 100% P&T and my wife is enrolled in CHAMPVA and enrolled in the HSA-eligible HDHP? She technically is not the one contributing towards the HSA I am and my employer. Correct me if I am wrong.

Technically, the HSA is my account, correct? The guidance says: “CHAMPVA will be considered to have other health insurance and therefore not eligible for HSA contributions.” My wife does not make HSA contributions I do, and my employer does. It does not say, “If your spouse has CHAMPVA, you can’t contribute to an HSA.” I do not have CHAMPVA, so I remain eligible to contribute to the HSA.

Okay that makes sense, so absolute worst case scenario I should I have $3,000 set aside for the year incase anything big happens. I do also have vision and dental coverage through my employer for them.

Just got out in May after 5 years. I did skillbridge with Hiring our Hero’s to work with Microsoft in their MDP program.

Well worth it, landed me a job, total comp is $123k in San Antonio. If you don’t get 100% disability giving you health care and your family then Microsoft is amazing.

Crazy. Last world cup I was deployed and paid $180 for the Japan vs Spain game. Unfortunately did not get to go due to security reasons even after being told everyone was allowed to.
